Enemies explode dealing % life as phys - interactions/mechanics?

I was playing around with a weapon with this mod and no doubt its great for clear speed. One thing I noticed though is that it does proc poison because I was using a golden rule jewel with ~90% of my phys damage converted to cold and only about a 30% chance to poison on hit I would normally be able to out leech any reflected poisons, however when I started exploding enemies I would proc high dps poisons and kill my char.

So from this I gather,
poisons proc on exploding enemies
phys to ele conversion does not work?

I guess my other questions are does anything increase the damage? global increased phys damage? Herald of Purity? Does hatred or Herald of Ash work with the explosions?

Thanks for any info.

corpse explosions deal secondary damage, which is defined as "a hit, that is neither attack nor spell damage". this means only generic modifiers will affect it, spell and attack/melee/weapon modifiers wont work

what is your source of damage conversion?

Ugh! Corpse explosions is a whole level of death on it's own that you would hate on a hardcore league.

Corpse explosion, back in 2014, nearly made me quit playing. I enjoy visceral deaths but a corpse explosion is the same as stepping on a mine. You won't know the damage until you wake up.

There is no warning for CE...you just have to be both lucky and smart, if dying is a factor.

Good Luck!
You might want to look into Abyssal Cry builds, because they're all about finding ways to scale corpse exploding. It's really something you want to build around - if you're not building around it, you're not going to get much out of it, and it usually isn't worth the time if it's not incidental on something you wanted to use anyways (like Inpulsa or Herald of Ice in an elementalist build).

That said, I ran an abyssal cry build back during breach league and it was a barrel of fun, so if you want to try that out with more modern syndicate tools, I recommend it. Not the greatest bosskiller, but still a lot of fun. It uses Hidden Potential to scale the damage, making it extremely cheap - this is what my gear looked like at level 90:

Couldn't tell you if it's still viable, mind. Don't have the tree for it, either.

So far I've always cheated around reflect damage, my current char does it by just dealing chaos damage. Sry if this is too obvious a question, I think it kinda fits here and I got no clue about secondary damage.

When my non-reflect-immune chaos-caster equips a synthesized weapon that explodes enemies for phys damage, I will rip hard in phys reflect maps?

Given that Abyssal Cry and Detonate Dead explicitly tell you that they ignore reflect, my guess is that you will.
