Splitting Synthesis Items

I couldn't really find much about this on google but I had a thought...

There's these absurd bases people are making like a bow with +1 level of socketed gems & +1 level of socketed support gems implicits. The base alone are selling for 50ex or something dumb.

Now, could you just use the split beast to effectively dupe these bases infinitely? The split beast is like 1ex atm and you don't even care how it comes out because it wouldn't split the implicits, you'd just end up duping the base.

Does this work? I can't see why it wouldn't but I've also not got the currency to test it myself.

No this does not work, even though the split recipe only indicate that you can't split elder/shaper base item, you can't split synthesis item as well. I have tried this, you also won't be able to split item with enchant....
