Do passives 'Buff Duration' & 'Skill Duration' both effect Viper Strike DoT?

Entire question is in the title. I was just wondering if you could make the dot last for a really long time through those passives?

Out of curiosity, is there any other way to buff up the viper strike dot?

Yes they do. And no there is no other way to buff the effect; the engine currently is pretty bad with degeneration and can't scale it well.
There's only the Vulnerability curse to increase damage.

There's also Temporal Chains to increase the duration (damage is still done at the same rate).
Charges are not Buffs nor Debuffs normally, and Viper Strike applies Charges. I'd be surprised if it did apply.

Do buff duration and skill duration both effect puncture then?
Buff duration affects buffs. Viper Strike isn't a buff. A buff would be Blood Rage(even though it is buggy atm and doesn't apply to the duration of the refreshed Blood Rage) or Molten Shell. Skill duration works on everything that has a duration tag, similar to the Increased Duration support. That means buffs like Molten Shell but also debuffs like Curses and Viper Strike.

Puncture works exactly the same. It's not a buff, but it has a duration tag and as such is affected by Skill Duration support and the passives.

And Vipermagi, Viper Strike isn't a charge. It is displayed like charges but it's a normal degen like burning, the counter is just there to make it visually possible to tell how many stacks you have. It is affected by duration just fine, both in tooltip and in practice.

Pyros is correct.
Skill Effect Duration helps both Viper Strike and Puncture.
Buff Effect Duration helps neither.
Upon further inspection though, Buff nodes say Buffs and Debuffs, not just buffs. I believe however degens aren't considered debuffs, so that's why they don't work, but they should work properly on other stuff that are considered debuffs, such as curses I assume. Or maybe I'm just wrong and these work on degens too. I should probably check it out.
Pretty sure you are wrong. There is the +skill duration nodes, which will lengthen the duration of the debuff because it comes from a skill's duration. Then there are the +buff/debuff duration nodes, which will also lengthen the duration of the debuff.

Like Puncture, Viper Strike even says right on the skill gem that it is a debuff. Also, it wouldn't have a duration boost from Temporal Chains if it wasn't a debuff, but there is a synergy there too.

Burning is a DOT which is not a debuff because like shock/freeze/chill they are "elemental status effects" or something.

Just coming in here to say this is wrong. All effects on the target are lengthened by temporal chains, including elemental status effects (which buff duration doesn't affect)
