More like Path of Unexplicable Deaths

I just died to the Primordial Blocks map's boss. But not because he killed me. I killed him, and a split second after I got one shot.

No idea how, or by what. I killed all the adds when they spawned, before focusing the boss. I'm playing Divine Ire, so it's instant hit. And no, there wasn't any reflect. Lost 6,200 life one shot, even with max attack block, half spell block, 50% physical damage reduction. But again, I have no idea what hit me.

The other day I died in a Chateau map while I was deciding what option to choose with a Syndicate member. I made sure there was no one around before doing so. I got one shot by something that wasn't there, because there was nothing in the screen when I died, my golem was just chilling in place, and when I went back to the map I didn't find any monster around. No random map effects either.

But eh, I'm not streaming my game, so no video proof. Fuck me, right?

The first one.. I have no idea.

The second one: Some syndicate members lay mines or traps, those trigger even after their death. Immediately moving up to one without looking very closely can be deadly. Also, you won't see what killed you as it's only there a fraction of a second after exploding. Since you're looking for the darn mob killing you instead you'll simply overlook that one.
GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease.
Everything fixed but still broken.
In my experience most of those are one of the following

* Mines/traps
* Timed corpse explosions
* Ground effects (burning/poision/delve cold/....)

All of those lingers after one kill the mob that created them.
Very easy to miss any of them!
Maybe one of those Indiana Jones antagonists rolled over you

I also died to that boss in exact same way - killed him, 1 second later boom dead from full 8k ES. Maybe he does delayed on death explosion but if so it isn't telegraphed good enough(i.e. at all).
Primordial Blocks boss has an after-death stuff that insta-kill you... After you kill him run like hell away from him, preferable port out...

As for Syndicate, sometimes they leave shit things like mines that wander around and kill you w/o noticing... IMO all syndicate shit should die when the member dies...

But yes this game has many unexplicable deaths and random oneshots. Think it's to keep people frustrated not to reach max level...

Yep.

Since GGG fails for quite some time now to provide any "real" challenge to FOTM toons thanks to never ending power creep, they have to come up with more and more lame ass mechanics so people still die; like for example delayed ground effects (fuck I hate those so so much)....
