chance of fusing/jewellers ?

hi guys i gotta some questions that people might find interesting

regarding jeweler
1)is the chance on getting 4 SOCKETS on a max 4socket item (e.g. boots, helmet/gloves) the same as getting 4 SOCKETS on an armor (which could have 6) ?

2) is the chance on getting 4L on a 4 socket item the same as getting 4L on a 6 socket item?

regarding fusing
3) how is the chance of getting 4 sockets on a max 4 socket item/ how is the chance of getting 4 sockets on a max 6 socket item?

4) how is the chance of getting 4L on a 4socket item and how is the chance of getting 4L on a 6 socket item?
I believe that each socket is rolled in order from a 100% one socket to an increasingly unlikely 6th socket.

I think links work in the same fashion. So, 4 links on a 6 socket should be the same likelihood as 4 links on a 4 socket.
Since there are multiple ways to get multiple links, there are more chances to get 4link on a 6s item. Same goes with 5 link on a 6s.

I dont know exact numbers, but suffice it to say, go for max sockets before going for links.

Is there really always though? I noted that 4L (on max 4 items anyhow) always go top-left >> top-right >> bottom-right >> bottom-left

There is never a connector along the left side. I have just been wondering if that was taken into account when people did some estimates on %'s. I lost the link to that thread and never seem to be able to find it.
on 4s items, I think there is only one way to get 4l, but I was meaning that to be towards 6s gear with 4l. And though they always end up being those, there are multiple sockets linking multiple ways. Its easier to get 4l on 6s items than it is on 4s items. I remember that being said somewhere, but its been a long day and I'm to lazy to go digging for it.

Would love a developer's response on this! Just spent about emptied most of my currency into 20 Fusings to try to 4L my 4S bow and I didn't get it. Should I have tried for 5/6S first?

When you apply an Orb of Fusing to an item, it will roll a sequence of numbers. It might look like:

2,1,1,3,1,2,2,1,4,1,...

What an item then does is, it links the first 2 sockets together (sockets always have the same order), then skips one 'group' ahead and links 'one socket together', meaning it creates a second group of only 1 socket that has no links.

On a 4 socket, this fusing would create one link between the first two sockets and no others.
I am unsure what happens if a fusing rolls a 5 or a 6 on a 4 socket item. There are two options: It fuses together as much as it can (which seems to make most sense if you look into it deeper) or it ignores the roll.

This has been confirmed by GGG and this mechanic will not change. What is uncertain, however, is the statistical distribution of the sequence of numbers. Whenever people give averages or approximations, they are only approximating for one particular reason.

The are using the official information on Jeweller's Orbs (which just rolls one number from one to six) and apply this distribution to the Orb of Fusing, assuming it should be close. The official data on Jeweller's Orbs is:

100:90:80:30:6:1 for the distribution to jeweller 1-2-3-4-5-6 sockets. I am not 100% sure about those numbers, but let's call it 99%. I know for a fact it is 100:90:80.

So they assume an Orb of Fusing will roll a 4-6 about 37/307 times. You can be fairly certain that this approximation makes a lot of sense to fuse 1 to 4 sockets together. However, people are only speculating when it comes to 5 sockets or 6 sockets.

depends on the item level. its above 50, you can get 6s, and thus 6l.

CMON GGG you guys are asnwering USELESS questions but when people ask serious ones you are kinda ignoring it :P

just answer this and give it a sticky and everyone is happy :D
I doubt they will answer and sticky it. I dont even think they will answer it. Its one of those hidden mechanics of the game they prefer to keep hidden. I kinda like it. Adds that awe inspiring mystery to the game you dont get everywhere else. Just keep rolling those fusings. Make sure the economy doesnt totally tank.
