Wave of Conviction Travel Distance

Will Wave of Conviction always travel to maximum distance, before your next cast? Also, does cast speed effect the distance traveled?

I'm running WoC with totems and it feels pretty bad.
The wave's travel distance seems to get shorter as my totems casting speed increases.

You increase the travel distance by increasing it's effect duration. The longer the duration, the farther it travels. I have mine where it can travel from my location all the way to the edge of the screen.

But there can only be one wave at a time, so if you cast again before it reaches it's max extent, the new wave will replace it.

I haven't tried it with a totem, but it doesn't seem that totems will wait for it to travel before casting again, so it'll be short, fast waves instead of one long wave.

With self-casting, you can choose whether to wait for it to finish or just cast a bunch of smaller waves.

Yep, there's only one wave, so the faster you/totem casts it, the shorter the wave. Might be a good skill for Cast on Crit if the average time between crits is long enough for the wave to reach max length, but not good with totems that will just keep casting every .3 seconds or so.

That's a rip. It had the hallmarks of a great skill, but it seems like the one wave at a time thing kind of blows.

I am using Wave of Conviction as a debuff applier with Curse on Hit, Flammability and an Increased Duration. Travels all the way to the edge of the screen.

Might be a prime candidate for Unleash Support. It is definitely doing a whole lot of damage even without any damage support gems.
