DX11 crash on startup (ISSUE SOLVED)

ISSUE IS FIXED
Not sure if the latest patch fixed the issue for me, or it was something else, for some reason my poe.exe 32 bit, in my steam folder was on compatibility mode for win7, may have been due to the upgrade to windows 7. ( or i turned compatibility mode on to try to fix the dx11 crash issue)
turned it off and did run as admin and worked,( i swear i tried run as admin before though)., then ran 64 bit and it updated my game(with GGG updater, Not steam). Not sure what really fixed it.
maybe the upgrade to win10 turned compatibility mode on both of the 32bit and 64 bit exe and you need to manually disable it on both versions for it to work?

Cant believe it was such a simple fix i overlooked, if that was indeed the issue
PS. game runs dx11 without run as admin
Recently upgraded to windows 10 from 7 dx11 was working in windows 7 however now i cant run the game in dx11, works on dx9, but with the 3.6 announcement that dx9 is no longer supported i need a fix to this issue.

Ive tried everything, looked at all the forum posts and nothing seems to fix my issue.
Only thing i havent tried is reinstalling the game. avoiding this as AUS net is total crap, will probably try to reinstall when 3.6 comes out if this is still an issue.

all i get is the error " dx11 client crashed on startup would you like to use dx9"

DX11 works with all other games.

Got exactly the same problem...
Wanted to write here too when the 3.6 notes were announced.

I played dx9 all the time cause of this dx11 crashes.
Switched from steam to standalone, reinstalled game, reinstalled drivers, dx, deleted config file... i dont know what to do now :(

Any ideas, before the 3.6 is released? :D

Same. I just tried it again and it still crashes 100% of the time when I load into town in DX11. I turned off dynamic res, and fiddled with the other options and it still crashes every time.

Literally the only reason I have to run DX9 is that DX11 stopped working after a game patch last year when this thread began.

So 3.6 will mean I can no longer play the game until PS4 version. It is gonna blow trying to get any of my gear for my build on console but I guess it is the only option that doesn't involve buying new hardware that might not even solve the problem with GGG's software.

I scrolled through your dxdiag

1. Please update your bios. And drivers. Windows update.
2. Remove everything that is not necessary eg the MANY drives. Only one drive C: with POE on SSD. Remove also the ASUS Xonar card.
3. Make sure you don't have malware or antivirus or miners on the system. Then disable antivirus and firewall.

If it still does not run w DX11. Try to roll back Nvidia drivers one version after another. With the help of DDU ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u5MFnL4wQ4 ) Till you might hit an older driver that does allow you to run POE DX11. But if Nvidia drivers were a problem that people can not run DX11 POE. More people would write about that, many many more!

If you still don't get it started:

1. Clean Windows Install (without the many hard drives and extra devices like the ASUS Xonar card).
2. Install basic Drivers.
3. Install POE on C: the only one drive (SSD).

If it still won't start with DX11, then can you escalate it further to support@ggg.

PS: Do other games run with DX11/12? Google which of your other games support DX11/12. https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/dx11/games https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_11_support.html https://en.everybodywiki.com/List_of_games_with_DirectX_12_support

Hey, i recently had the exact same issue, i upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 10, then when i went to boot up Path of Exile, DirectX 11 crashed on startup, if i switched to DX9 and back to DX11 once in-game, the game would instantly crash.

I tried all the basic things like updating / reinstalling graphic card drivers, directx, checking for windows updates etc. but nothing worked.

The fix happened when i decided to try to open the exe file manually in the path of exile folder, i started with the 32 bit one and while i was able to have DX11 on there the game ran like poo, but when i tried manually opening the 64 bit exe file, some weird tiny launcher opened up, starting to download / install something, after that i could open up 64 bit client manually or trough steam with DX11, havent had any issues since.

Hope it works for anyone with the same problem as it was starting to really annoy the crap out of me.

Edit: I did open the PackCheck.exe file before opening the actual game exe files, not sure if it does anything.

(1) Steam and Standalone Client? 32bit and 64bit (in POE folder)?
(2) Post your DXdiag txt file in a pastebin.com document, just in case.
(3) Delete the production config ini file in My Documents/My Games/POE and follow it up with a PackCheck, [???], followed by starting POE with the 64bit.exe in the POE folder.
(4) If it still fails even after reinstalling DirectX, uninstall POE, empty trash, and reinstall POE (Steam preferred).

[???] Don't know if you should try then to reinstall DirectX ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/179113/how-to-install-the-latest-version-of-directx ). It's worth a try IMHO.

huh somehow i had compatibility mode on for win7, turned it off and did what you did, just run the 32bit and worked in dx11 then 64bit and it updated my game then now it works in dx11.

not sure if the patch fixed it or what, swear i had compatibility mode off though and i turned it on to try and fix the issue. Or maybe the upgrade to win10 turned compatibility mode on both of the 32bit and 64 bit exe and you need to manually disable it on both versions for it to work?
I finally got it to run just fine in dx11. It wasn't all the updating of drivers or fiddling with settings that fixed it.

All I had to do was learn that Launch Options existed, and then add command lines to the client shortcut.

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Launch_options

--disable-client-switching--nodx9ex--nologo

This worked, and it also removed dynamic resolution from the Options menu for some reason, which is weird as when I ran it in dx11 before it forced me to use it or the game would crash.

Now it is running a bit smoother than dx9 and hasn't crashed. I thought maybe it was still in dx9 but it says dx11 in options so I believe it worked. Whether or not it will continue to work in 3.6 we'll have to find out.
