Leer Cast

Hi guys!

I'm a newbie here in Path of Exile and I'm just "getting started".
So in my journey I've found this helmet: Leer Cast.

As i told you I'm new and I thought this item was just OP.

30% reduced damage
+
15% increased damage for you and your party

I thought this was insane, but when I checked the price on the trade market it really is a "lol-item".

So I think there's something I'm missing but I cannot understand what.

Are there items far superior than this?

How can a 30% reduced damage not be worth a load of "money" for this item?
And then you have the 15% increased damage as well, how is it possible?

I can understand that this helmet has low stats but...

Does the 30% reduced damage apply to every damage (physical, chaos, elemental, DoTs) or does it apply to physical damage?
Does the 15% increased damage also apply to minions or not?

If the answers for both the questions are the latter* than I understand why it's not worth very much but if not then what am I missing?

It debuffs your damage by 30% while increasing you and your minions/party members damage by 15%. Sense these are addative it's a small difference but a net loss to use it on yourself (not to mention being a poor item in most other respects) as far as i know the only use for it is on an animated guardian with a small party buff buff.

no life,no res,low eva,low es and it reduce YOUR damage ,not the damage taken.......dogshit

Item is so bad it's not even worth the ID scroll you used on it.

Most uniques have no value these days. Only a few rare ones does.
Still some low value stuff can still be really solid. Leer cast, not so much though...

Reduces YOUR damage by 30%... not damage you take!

If i recall that mask is pretty good for animated armors. Since it will boost you and your minions dmg.

It does have one good use.

Animate Guardian is a minion skill that creates a minion out of gear that you animate. If you drop Leer Cast on the ground and cast Animate Guardian on it, the guardian appears wearing the helm.

For a minion build with zombies, specters and whatever else, the extra damage for you and your party will apply to all your other minions. While the damage penalty only applies to the Animated Guardian. But that is irrelevant because he is only used as a buff bot, and not as extra dps.

Downside is that if the guardian dies, all the gear on it is lost.

But if you get a level 21 Animate Guardian gem, you equip it with multiple uniques that buff the 'party', it should not die.

You can usually get all the good uniques to animate for either 1 alch or 1 chaos at most each.
