Life on Hit / increased Life Recovery Rate

Can someone explain the mechanics between "+XX Life gained for each Enemy Hit while affected by Vitality" AND "% increased Life Recovery Rate while affected by Vitality"

My case is the molten strike attack. Path of building tells me that the latter is the better choice. I can't find any reliable resources on the net about this topic.

Would be happy if somebody with the needed knowledge could help me answering this question.

Are you asking if life recovery affects life gain on hit?
First thing to remember is that path of building only counts 1 of your molten strike balls hitting so you have to guestimate how many are actually hitting to figure out how much life on hit you get.

2nd is understanding what each of those stats does. Life on hit is different from leech in that there is no cap and it is applied instantly. With a skill that hits multiple times a second it can be very powerful. Leech has a cap that is based on your total life as well as a few item modifiers and skills.

Life recovery rate is a very powerful stat that many players don't fully realize. It effectively multiplies every other source of life recovery(edit: only over time recovery) by the total amount of recovery rate you have. So if you max leech rate was 2,000, and you had 25% increased life recovery rate, when you are leeching 2,000 hp/s you would now leech 2,500 hp/s. If you have 20 life on hit, you now effectively have 25 life on hit. Your base life regen is also improved by 25% as is how much flasks heal(I think, not sure on flasks). Edit: I as mistaken about life on hit, recovery rate only effects over time life recovery(leech, life/s, non-instant flasks). Blue text is incorrect.

One important point to note is that life recovery rate does not show up on your in game character sheet, but PoB will calculate it.

Hope that helps and makes it easier to decide. Personally, I've come to really like life on hit this league because it can heal you much faster while getting pounded by the syndicate.

You should always be strapped with one of those, life recovery rate is really good, but only has a few sources in the game.
