Kitava is still trash-tier design.

After dying maybe once? twice? to Betrayal encounters while playing the campaign, I die 14 times to Kitava in Act 10 before I can beat him. I end up zerging him, because that is literally the only way I can beat him in any reasonable time frame.

And zerging is super-duper-demoralizing to a player. Because you know you didn't beat the content fair-and-square, and instead you cheated. Makes you want to quit the game outright.

Yes, I have spent time studying up on his various attack types, and I have fought him many dozens of times by now (including his map version), so this isn't about unfamiliarity with the mechanics.

Now, from this, you can come to one of two conclusions:

1. Kitava is overtuned.

2. I suck at the game, and everything EXCEPT Kitava is massively, stupidly undertuned. I mean STUPIDLY undertuned. Including the Betrayal mechanics that everyone complains about being too hard and yet almost never kill me, despite my tendency to upgrade all the Masters whenever possible.

In either case, there is a problem. And... it's been around for a while, if other players' comments are any indication. Do you not care, or do you disagree?

...Because if you disagree, I'd *really* love to hear the reasons why. I'd even stomach reddit to read them.

You can learn the fight and outplay everything Kitava does. Not that I ever bothered to do that with the a10 version since the real game begins only after campaign is done.

I did study the t15 version enough to easily avoid all big hits though.

Ironically, I have no problem with that version by the time I get to it.

This criticism is about fundamental imbalances in the campaign.

Every league after Solaris and Lunaris I farm blood aqueducts for 3 reasons:
1. level up until min. lvl 65 to rush through A9 and A10
2. farm tabula
3. get some rares

If you encounter Kitava make sure to:
- equipSoul of Abberath pantheon for fire reduction
- check your fire resistances
- try to mitigate phys damage with flasks
- push your damage to skip alot of kitava's phases

In some situations I even use a portal for flask charges.
Kitava in general is pretty easy.

the problem i have with the kitava fight, it spawns outside the screen and sreams "console" to me.
did i mention that i hate consoles?

Kitava was complicated the first time. Nowadays, however, I seldom die once during that fight, having largely figured out his attacks.

I think if your build isn't where it should be, he can be something of a rude awakening, but with adequate gear (and I play SSF so my "adequate" may be very borderline to others) he's actually in the place I'd expect the boss at the end of the story campaign to be: very difficult initially, but quite fair with some practice.
How can you die to Kitava? His attacks are super easy to avoid.
They really need to make him harder as an act 10 boss. Not joking here.
I think giving him the turbo red map mod would suffice.

I had to check the date of the posts. I was certain this was a thread from when the 10 acts were released. I am very confused now.

if i'm allowed to have a guess ... heavy strike? standing on the corner next to kitava? mouse over the guy to see when his idle animation ends and ending up clicking outside the screen when the 0,5s animation for the super slam started?

Kitava is ok, until he puts that massive degen pool in the middle of the arena.
And the lightning ball.
Sometimes both.
He has other "fun" traits and bugs like attacking when he should be phased, or quickly combining moves - but these specific attacks are poor design and ruin a fight that can be fair otherwise.
Fair, despite the ridiculous strength of his heart-phase minions and the "entire floor is fire" attack at the end.

The Act 5 version has it's BS moves too. Like instantly throwing rubble and one-shotting you when you stand at range.
No way to see that coming.

Shadow: That was fun

How is Kitava even hard? I kill A10 kitava without dying every time. Doedre and Innocence are much harder.
