New Baldur's Gate and Diablo 3

At 3:00pm today (EST, my time) there will be an announcment here http://baldursgate.com/. I have fond memories of playing the original games. The second installment is one of the bet RPGs of all time. Also, it has finally been announced that the official release date for Diablo 3 is May 15th!

Loved Balders Gate. But I'm starting to get disillusioned with Bioware..

First they ruined Dragon age 2, SWTOR was enjoyable until you got to 50 and there was nothing meaningful to do, Mass effect 3 I heard has a terrible ending so I'm on the sidelines on whether to buy it or not.

I knew biowares quality was going to go down hill when EA took over. Just like how they destroyed Westwood studies the bastards.

So yea if they are making Balders Gate 3 it will probably be disappointing.

Youre not cynical, it is the sad truth. I'm just glad I cancelled my D3 preorder in time.

There is announcement, there would be Exhanced Version on BG 1 and BG 2 games, on summer this year.

LoL nice can't wait to play baldur's gate again also to see how they enhanced it hopefully they will work on other content not just gfx.

BG will never be the same as it was when I was a small lad.

I`m excited for the revamped Baldur's Gate. Not so much Diablo III although I will give it a try.

made my heart skip a beat there. baldurs gate = original owesome. ill keep my eye on it fr sure but without black isle it wont be the same. fingers crossed fellow BG fans

I have to say, I was much more psyched for Diablo 3 at the time the first beta gameplay vids appeared.
Part of me felt like a wee lad again, playing the two-level demo killing the butcher over and over.

The nostalgia was so strong, I could have almost forgiven the lack of character development. We were promised cars can be customized through gear now, and I thought, K, I'll bite.

The recent news that the runes system got canned got to me. My enthusiasm waned. Too much streamlining claimed yet another poor soul :-/


Now, when it comes to Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, I have to admit I'm not too hot on this one, for the reason alone that I was never too fond of BG1. BG2 was better designed and better written and Throne of Bhall was a bit too much. Problem was, I guess, that it used D&D 2E, which I am not too fond of.

I was perfectly happy with the original infinity engine graphics. Won't mind an update if it comes round, but it's not something I would drool over.

However, if they add in all the expansions together and make it possible to complete the whole saga with one character (like with TUTU or any other similar mods availale at the moment), it may be actually worth interest. I always wanted to take a week off and do a complete TUTU run, but never actually gotten to it. Sounds like a proper good occasion to finally do ot.
