Pls change Ghetto Map name,thanks.

I love the game,long time supporter(and a streamer) but I am jewish,from Israel and the name Ghetto is simply wrong for a map,I hate saying the word,I hate seing the word,and I hate the associations that come along with it.Name it something else,this shouldn't be in the game.

I am just making a simple request over something that bothers me personaly and I am occused of trolling?
Why do so many people care to comment here with such negativity? Changing a map's name is not a big thing at all,it has been done in the past (quay->port for example),has zero impact on the game and will make me just a bit happier.Thats all.

I know the meaning of the word ghetto,and I know it is often used in many parts of the world to describe well,slum neighbourhoods,but that has nothing to do with the fact that the immidiate association that I have when I hear this word is ww2 and what was done to my ancestors,and to the fact that in my part of the world,Israel,this partucular word IS OFFENSIVE just as the 'N' word in America.
I just want to enjoy POE,and not be reminded of the near extinction of my people every time shaper spawns on ghetto map.I hate the sound of that word,I hate seeing that word and I hate pronouncing that word.

Also,there is nothing wrong in promoting my channel,nothing at all.
I am a streamer,dedicated the past 5.5 years of my life to creating content on Twitch and youtube,and helping out thousends of people.I am a former D3 streamer but for a little over a year I have been exclusively streaming POE,learning and getting better at the game with each league.

I rarely (if at all) post in the forums and I know exctly why,this very thread and commentators like the unfortunate toxic part of the POE community is exactly the reason why I have avoided so far to post anything in the forums at all,I considered writing a message to support but didn't think it would be fitting because it is not a support related issue so here we are.

-To conclude,this post is mostly directed to POE team,not to the vast poe community,I will not make more comments here on this thread,if you want me you know where to find me.
And lastly,for all of you that commented in this thread,stop for a second and be honest with yourself and try and think,why is it that one man's request bothers you so much that you make fun of it? try and be a bit more sensitive to the person next to you and a bit more understanding,and stop assuming the worst from everyone.

Grow up. Words should not be hurting your feelings. In particular words that did not have the intention of hurting your feelings.

Map name is fine. Ghettos are fairly common in human history, even up until today. A continent which housed empires but is presently thorn by thaumaturgy must have ghettos.

For fucks sake man, there are actual issues in the game that needs addressed and you are going to complain about how something "hurts" you to say it when its not negative at all in this context.

I suggest the name Deserted Village, because I don't see any downside in changing the name.

Hi Moses! I used to watch your D3 streams a lot.

I could get why Ghetto may be a culturally sensitive word, but I'm not sure what removing would accomplish. The fact is that many words that were considered basic vernacular about a year ago are now all blacklisted as "racist" or "offensive".

There will always be a word that offends someone. However, as of right now, Ghetto is not classified as a derogatory term.

The term has grown to encompass all depressed areas... not just Jewish communities that are depressed.


These are the current definitions. I believe GGG is using 3b. I guess the argument could be 2 as well.

1: a quarter of a city in which Jews were formerly required to live
2: a quarter of a city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure
3a : an isolated group a geriatric ghetto
3b : a situation that resembles a ghetto especially in conferring inferior status or limiting opportunity
