What's with The Writhing Jar?

The Writhing Jar seems strange to me. I get that it's a Hallow Hybrid flask with two prefix mods, Seething (instant recovery) and a slightly crippled Chemist (reduced charges used). Perhaps that's worth creating a unique but, what is the purpose of the worms? I must be missing something, what is it?

Kills for Rampage/on-hit/on-kill effects.
Kills for minion builds (see botw)
They have 1 hp so you can hit them really hard with Herald of Ash and have a lot of overkill for the Ignite.
They have 1 hp for Slayer leech on overkill.

I'm sure there's more uses for them.

Before death of double dipping, when earthquake Slayer was super strong, writhing Jar was standard on it.

The worms are, in fact, so good that writhing jar has been nerfed more times than any other unique in the game and it still gets used! They weren’t minor nerfs either, each one destroyed multiple builds. The build of the week episode with the animated weapons is tame compared to how worms used to be haha.
