Help upgrading a weapon

I just bought this foil hoping it would up my dps but it's in fact lower than the unique (I've gone from 22k in town to 19k), what stats should I be looking for on future weapon? Is there a way I can compare my current weapon with a new one from poetrade?
Should I be gunning for pdps? Attack speed? Anything else? If so what's a general marker for a lvl 81? Thanks Last bumped on Jul 19, 2018, 10:34:31 AM

Use Path of Building tool, makes it super easy to compare what different gear or enchants will give.

Turned on the advanced tool tips and you can press Alt to see the pdps and edps of an item.
That foil is pretty bad so Scaeva would beat it out 100%. Whether you want Ele or Phys DPS is purely up to the type of build you are playing. |

and dont forget to use some blacksmiths whetstones :) for %20 more dmg

Hi guys thank you so the advice. Done all the things you have suggested, now. So when I'm looking at mods for one-handed swords, what should I be putting into poetrade?

Weapons have physical(pdps) and elemental(edps) damage, generally the higher base physical dps is better. If youre converting all to elemental damage via your passive/gear setup, youre still generally better off going for a sword that does 350pdps than one that does a split between elemental and physical. Some skills like elemental hit only take into account your attack speed.
