Additional Ignite on an Enemy
I have some question with this additional ignite mechanic, my example will be about 2 stack of ignite : 1) Will the duration of the first stack of ignite reset if i apply the second stack of ignite ? 2) Damage of 2 instances will be the highest damage of them or they have their own damage ? 3) Following from the question 2, if they have their own damage, how the next ignite apply on them ? For example : ignite 1 deal 50 damage/s, ignite 2 deal 100 damage/s, the incoming ignite will be ignite 3 deal 150 damage/s, which instance will be overrided ? Judging from how they word everything else, such as poison mechanics, each ignite will deal it's own damage until it runs its course. If you hit a monster twice, the first with 50 ignite damage, the second with 100. It will take 50 burning damage per second until your second hit, then it takes 150 burning damage per second. But after four seconds your first ignite will wear off so now the monster is taking 100 damage per second. If you hit him three times in a four second period then my guess is if the damage is higher than either of the first two hits then the weakest ignite will stop and be replaced with the higher one.

" Thanks 0piate, i read again the mechanic and solve question 1 and 2: multi ignite has its own duration and and its own damage. Then just my question 3 left, to make my example clearer, i will quote from wikia " For example, i'm using 1 emberwake and i apply 3 ignites on an enemmy : Ignite 1 : 100 fire damage/s Ignite 2 : 50 fire damage/s Ignite 3 : 150 fire damage/s Total damage of ignite at this moment will be which one in below calculations : 1) Ignite 1 + Ignite 3 = 100 + 150 = 250 fire damage/s : highest ignite damage first and second 2) Ignite 3 x 2 = 150 x 2 = 300 fire damage/s : 2 times highest ignite damage |

250 damage/second.
All instances of ailment on an enemy are being tracked and expire separately; but only the highest instance (or two highest instances with Emberwake) will be dealing damage to the enemy. For example, if the first ignite expires, but the other two are still active, the enemy will continue taking 200 damage/second. Last edited by Abdiel_Kavash#5296 on Jun 30, 2018, 9:59:45 PM

" Seriously, this thread need someone really know how the system work behind the screen. In case it choose the two highest value then it will be confused if your next ignite 4 deal 200 fire damage/s, which activing ignite(Ignite 1 and Ignite 3) will be inactived ? It will be easier to calculate if you seperate duration of each ignite and highest damage, each ignite have its own duration and each active ignite damage will be a reflection of the highest damage |

" That is correct. Every instance of Ignite (or Bleeding, Poison) has a duration and a damage per second amount. Buth are being tracked for every Ignited enemy separately. So an enemy might have a stack of ignites on them: Ignite 1 (3 seconds remaining, 150 damage/sec) Ignite 2 (3 seconds remaining, 50 damage/sec) Ignite 3 (1 second remaining, 200 damage/sec) At every moment (you could say "every tick" as an analogy to some other games; but please don't think of PoE mechanics as working in this way), the enemy checks all instances of Ignite on them, and takes damage from the highest one. If you can inflict more than one Ignite, then the damage of the most powerful Ignites will be applied. So in this moment, the target will be taking 150 + 200 = 350 damage/second from ignite 1 and 3. One second later, ignite 3 wears off. After that moment, only ignite 1 and 2 will be on the enemy, and it will be taking only 200 damage/second. Two seconds from the initial example, you inflict one more ignite (4) on the enemy, with a duration of 4 seconds and dealing 100 damage/second. Now the two strongest instances are 1 and 4, so the enemy will start taking 250 damage/second. Three seconds after the start, ignites 1 and 2 will also wear off, and the enemy will only be taking 100 damage/second from ignite 4. Last edited by Abdiel_Kavash#5296 on Jun 30, 2018, 10:50:38 PM
