Avatar of the Veil vs Chase question

I have tried Phasing on my Trapper and it seems like when I attack, I lose that Phasing. Is this the case with Avatar of the Veil? It says I have Phasing while at max. Frenzy. I read that the phasing graphic could be missing but I still have the Phasing buff on me. Is this true?

How does this path compare to Avatar of Chase? I plan to take Avatar of Slaughter as it seems to be the most popular choice. I wonder if I should have taken Avatar of Chase and Veil instead?

If Phasing buff remains while I am at Max. Frenzy, then I may take Veil instead of Chase.

Another question is Chaser. It says 100% increase effect on Onslaught, does it mean I get 40% increase Attack speed and Movement? Isn't this better than Slaughter?

I assume you have tried the Phase Run skill. The effect of Phase Run (which includes gaining Phasing) indeed ends when you use any skill. But that is a feature specific to Phase Run, not to the Phasing status. If you gain Phasing from some other source (such as a Quartz flask or the Raider ascendancy passives), it will last for as long as whatever is giving you the effect indicates.

Phasing itself is not a Buff, therefore it does not have a Buff icon in the top left corner. It can be granted by a buff in some cases (such as Phase Run), then you will see the icon for that buff - but by itself Phasing has no other visual indication than your character being transparent. With Quartz Infusion, you will indeed have Phasing for as long as you either have Onslaught or your maximum number of Frenzy Charges. Avatar of the Veil will in turn provide all of its bonuses for this time.

That is correct. The reasoning behind it is somewhat complicated [1], but 40% is right.

[1] Mark_GGG, Allies Cannot Die aura should be removed from breach bosses, it causes insane performance issues on some builds.

You are awesome! So, Avatar of Veil or Chase? Which one is better if my build is Spectral Throw? Having Phasing all the time seems cool but Chase's Onslaught effect is also very good.
It's up to you. Veil is somewhat more defensive while Chase is slightly more offensive. The modifiers do what they say they do... if you already have some way of dealing with all elemental ailments (such as having of Dousing, of Heat, and of Grounding on your flasks and wise flask usage) and Spell Hit DPS (such as already having plenty of Spell Dodge, or some funky way like Kongming's Strategem), then Veil's extra defenses are probably wasted on you and you should take Chase. If on the other hand you find that you're already killing very fast, and just suddenly die sometimes from burst Spell damage and/or getting Freeze-locked/Ignited when you have no healing/burst Lightning damage, you probably want Veil.
