Where to farm before Mapping?
Guys I'm trying to get started with Maps with a Lvl79 Templar - most of time in t1+t2 I get riped, if not from map harbinger then a red beast does the job.
Farmed a while in Act9+Act10 but exp suck cause of the lvl difference, anyone knows a good farming spot for this stage? Last bumped on May 25, 2018, 11:03:41 AM

If you're having problems in T1 maps at level 79, more levels will not help you. Tier 1 maps are of area level 68, you are more than 10 levels overleveled already. Your problem is in your gear, your skills, your build, your execution, or a combination of the above.
The "good farming spot" at your level are higher tier yellow maps. Last edited by Abdiel_Kavash#5296 on May 25, 2018, 3:21:24 AM

What a mess. Don't get me wrong, but your gear is pure garbage and when it comes to build... I don't know, never had such combination but looks really weak. I know, this is SSF, but come on, why you went SSF as a completly new player? The Inquisitor is one of the most powerful melee builds in the game, on level 79 and with proper tree you should be able to survive on T14 map, while you die on T1.
So, when it comes to question "where to farm before mapping", answer is simple: New league starts next week, so make new character there, DON'T GO SSF!!! , then reach act 8 and farm grain gate, imperial fields and quay for 2 monthe... eee, not exacty, just farm these locations until you get enough valuable divination cards to exchange them for chaos/exalted orbs and obtain (buy) good 6l armor (about 30c after week from league beginning) and good +life gear (minimum +50 life on each pieace of equipment). Then use some builds from forum and enjoy higher maps. |

I just quickly looked at your Templar, my 2c: you have to have (over)capped resists for maps, which I doubt you do, considering your char's gear; also are you hybrid life/ES? Then I think you also need more life, try to get better life rolls on every piece of gear - atm only your shield and boots are ok.
And do you really need a mana flask on top of 2 hybrid ones? A Seething life flask helps alot in keeping you alive, keep that in mind too... "Metas rotate all the time, eventually the developers will buff melee" PoE 2013-2018 Last edited by Wazz72#5866 on May 25, 2018, 3:41:11 AM

SSF is quite a challenge for a pretty new player in PoE.
I can’t see everything on your tree since I’m on mobile but from what I can see: 1. You’re playing frostbolt—go to the Templar build section and look up some frostbolt inquisitors. Primarily compare their ascendancy choices and trees as what I can see of yours looks a little sub-optimal 2. Emberwake probably isn’t doing you any good—get a rare ring with res/life/mana 3. Look for a spell shield (usually ES base) with spell crit/spell damage 4. Try some new flasks—utility flasks like basalt, granite, jade, stibnite, resist flasks. Diamond flask is huge for inquisitor too if you take his crit path 5. Drop that unique fire jewel. Get two frostbolt jewels from A5 (you can level a second character for this in SSF) 6. With those two jewels you can drop faster proj and volley for dmg gems which will be a massive dmg boost compared to how it feels now (as-is you should drop both of these now for GMP and maybe added cold or some other more multiplier) 7. I think for 6-link you should go frostbolt, crit strikes, spell echo, added cold, hypothermia, GMP (swap to controlled destruction/cold to fire/ice bite after getting frostbolt jewels) There’s probably other things you can do but these stick out to me from a 30 second glance on mobile. Edit: got off mobile, saw more detail, made some changes to advice Last edited by AHAB_10#7066 on May 25, 2018, 4:05:08 AM

" Thx a lot for lookin in my mess! Since all guys complained about dysfunctional trade and long waiting periods I thought SSF will be my decent choice for Flashback - just underestimated the challenge of whole poe complexity and gettin good gear, thats learning by fail ;-) I will experiment with all your hints and comments and give an update here. aaaand cant wait starting a new build for Incursion! |

Maybe it is good idea for you to have a look at some guides to learn from it and this could increase your playstyle. Solo self found is the hard way to learn, but if you are a player who wants challenges it is ok. I can understand it, trading will give you the chance to get much higher than without but it also has its downsides. For me trading is a little betraying myself, that is why I am still using rares that pro gamers would have thrown away long time ago.
But even with no trading for good rare items, the game gives you enough to get into yellow maps. As long you keep an eye at your stats. If you are a life character, look to have it with highest stat at your items, same is resistances. You need to have 75% resist or better more and even then you will find enemies that will blow you away. It takes long to get better and not only by grinding items, also it took quite some time to understand the game. But it is worth. Don´t give up, last word: why are you wearing tabula? To make it simple, a dead character makes no damage so it does not help to have 6link while dead. |

Nothing wrong with tabula (it´s pretty good for SSF) if you can cap your resistances but you should really get an inspiration from other people how to make a good build (check character section).
