Minions and "Shock"

So fairly noobish at the game, started a minion build for the 1st time, and going through poeb with stats and whatnot. I'm focusing on elemental damage with minions and noticed "shock" status would bump my total dps by a whole 100k...But upon researching a little bit, getting minions to shock is a bit confusing so asking here.

So just wondering how often, if it can, will my minions shock and how good is it against tier 10+ maps bosses? Assuming enemies are cursed with conductivity and as much lightning damage as I can squeeze out of them (wrath, added light, phys to light)? Does Conductivity chance to shock apply to minions when the enemy is cursed?

Just wondering if the status is worth the trouble (reliable) or to stick with elemental focus support for more baseline damage.

Edit: oops asked in general and not gameplay thread -_-

They can shock with conductivity and they also have a base-line crit chance(which will inflict a shock if they have lightning damage)

Do a search for shock calculations because shock is calculated based on lightning damage applied vs mob total health%.

I think PoB always uses 50% increased damage taken from activating shock(the max achievable value) which is very unrealistic in a real situation.

As a side note, elemental focus turns off the chance to apply status ailments(shock is a status ailment) so it would defeat the purpose to utilize that.

You also cant scale shock effect or duration on minions as far as i am aware.

thanks for the help! Just tried it out, with innervate it seems I can more reliably shock in addition to conductivity (30% chance total from those skills alone). I assume innervate effects my minions too since tooltip doesn't mention minions (although it mentions skills you use yourself which is a bit confusing, clarification would be helpful)

Bringing up ele focus was to decide whether I would go focus and forgo any shock junk, or go with shock to perhaps get more damage against bosses. dps wise innervate + shock would bring (much) more damage than simply going ele focus in this case, assuming the enemy is shocked of course.

I don't understand how do you plan to get the full power of Innervate in a boss fight - it requires you to kill a shocked monster at least once per 4 sec. Not every boss even has adds. Without that it's just (1-11) to (25-218) added lightning damage which is significantly worse than Added Lightning Damage Support. And again, as Boem said, the shock damage boost in PoB is bs, even full-stacked Elementalist won't be able to get 50% shocks against T13+ bosses. You have to calculate this manually by applying all shock/elemental ailment modifiers to you base shock value, which is a function of both hit damage and monster life. Elementalists with Beacon of Ruin always apply at least 20%, but as a Necro you will have to do a 120k hit just to apply a measly 1% shock against, say, Minotaur. That's 1.01 damage modifier lol.
