Do you always have to use desecrate to get a high level minion?

I was confused because raise spectre said it raises the level of a minion to that level.
So basically, if I want "flame sentinels" which are in a low level area, I get them from there but I also have to bring it to a high level map and then use desecrate 3 times? I'm wondering why they didn't make raise spectre just raise the minion to the level of the gem? Last bumped on Apr 10, 2018, 12:33:01 PM

The thing that matters is the level of the area where the spectre was raised, and the level of the Raise Spectre gem (which puts a maximum cap on the level of raised monsters). Whether the monster was spawned by Desecrate or spawned naturally in the map does not matter. In fact, a low level Desecrate can create corpses that are of a lower level than the zone you are in.
The change in behavior was that, previously, if you took your level 70 spectres to a level 10 zone, they would behave as level 10 monsters. With the change, they will always be considered level 70 monsters no matter which zone you take them into. |

" The level of your specter is the lowest of the level of the corpse, and the maximum level the specter gem supports. The level of a corpse is the lowest of the monster level of the zone, and the maximum level created by your desecrate gem, should you use one. So, yes, if you raise a specter on a low level map from a corpse, it will be low level because the monster level was low. If you desecrate it will still be capped by the monster level of the zone. So, since the corpse has a low level either way, the specter will necessarily also be low level. " I wonder the exact same thing, since it would make them balance vastly better than the current model, and also eliminate a great degree of tedious "don't suck" button pressing and cooldown waiting. *shrug* |
