Mirage Archer Support: when is it good to use?

Always felt underwhelming to me... are there specific skills/gear that magnifies that support gem?

It's good to use if your attacks 1-shot packs anyway, and you like to pick up loot instead of shooting by yourself all the time. Also good for clearing stragglers without any effort from the player.
Another way to use it is as an extra damage boost on a secondary skill vs a boss. Think of it like arcane surge on a secondary skill. Cannot confirm this but Mirage also doesn't reflect damage for you. Its also a very useful defense or offense support as it grants you damage while kiting around wnemies especially with skills like Shrapnel Shot, Ice Shot & Split Arrow.
