Cold Snap... or Frost Nova?

Which spell is better in the long run. I have been using frost nova since the beginning but its like my degenerate spell. I hardly use it because i feel like it honestly sucks. But i tried cold snap and i dont know if it will be any better.

Please advise community.

I haven't seen any good builds utilizing cold snap. I guess in theory it works ok with siphon but freeze pulse seems way better at freezing in the long run.

I have been enjoying ele proliferation recently on my totem
to just cause sick sick freezeing without effecting dps
on main spells (linked to pulse) I'm thinking you could link
a proliferation to nova and utterly freeze a pack. helpful
but not a dps change really.

The best way to use cold snap is to use 4 separate cold snap gems in tandem.

Cold Snap is better than Ice Nova when you use it like that, though it does limit you (because you have 4 cold snap gems, only <=2 can be 6L'd in theory).

A high-crit cold-based caster could utilize it well enough; link it with elemental proliferation and increased AoE so you can snap-freeze large chunks of the screen, then approach the frozen mobs and freezing pulse them to death.
