Slayer ascendancy "Bane of Legends" and bestiary monsters

I have thought of playing as a slayer on the new bestiary league. As far as I know getting these new monsters to low health makes them easier to catch. There's an obvious issue with slayer's ascendancy "Bane of Legends" which is basicly Culling strike with 20% or less threshold.

It would be great if these legendary monsters couldn't be culled. Or some sort of option to toggle this effect on/off.

No. Just no. POE is game of knowledge. Based on this you can make your choice. If you decide to go for X you also accept all consequences. You can't just say "ok i like this mechanic but i would like to work it different way if X happens".

You pick culling strike so you cull. Simply as that.
As if there were not any exceptions on how some mechanics work on certain monsters. For example curse effect reductions on certain monsters.

Will see how much reduced health will effect on the "catch-rate". In the worst case this ascendancy point will make this league content unplayable.
they said that lauching a net BEFORE attacking the target will make it impossible to kill. How does culling strike interact with that ?
I guess it will let 1 HP. Problem solved
I have a problem with this too.

Culling doesnt seem to work when the mob is in the net...

So its really hard sometimes to catch em, you have to throw the net before 20% and then you have to kill it, which can take some time on red ones. This making it impossible to catch em sometimes...

You said if you want culling, you have it always. Thats fine, but i dont have it always as a netted mob cant be culled...
I have Oro's Sacrifice, which culls on hit if the target is burning.

I have to say, even 10% cull make capturing beasts more than a little annoying. Most of the time I'll throw a net preemptively, as to not kill the mob with a cull. But I'll sometimes miscalculate my dps (e.g. due to some crits in a row) and will fail to kill the mob "on time". Then it enrages and I have to stop hitting it; otherwise I risk killing it while its enraged (and therefore immunte to nets).

This feels very clunky, and saying something such as "you accept all consequences of culling" is just stupid. The league is designed around something that doesn't work well with culling. You can't say "well just don't use culling in this league"...
“We are the race of flesh, We are the race of lovers.”
Breach was not designed around people who can't hit everything on the screen at once.

Abyss or Essence was not designed around people who can't deal with powerful rares.

Prophecy was not designed around people who reroll a lot.

Each league has a specific playstyle it encourages, and if your build fails to meet the criteria, it will not be as suited to the league as someone who builds around the mechanics. Bestiary is no exception. This is by design. It is a challenge league after all - it wouldn't be challenging if you could just copy the same build and have it work for every league!

And Bestiary hates any spec that has more then 1dps per second

Doesn't make it justified or a good league because its apparently supposed to be "hindering" people.

Even in breach ST builds could still work. Abyss you could still play with weaker specs and strong specs, it didn't have restrictions.

Bestiary is a league that punishes you for playing any spec with culling strike. If you want to play a slayer, play the league like standard. makes it a lot easier on yourself.

I'm playing GC, which means even in weak gear the mobs die to fast, I'm just glad we can toss the net with them at full health, and then have 3 seconds to capture.

Man that sucked before the change...

Honestly though. The main gripe I have about the league so far, is how dead it is already.
This kind of stuff just underscores why nets were not necessarily a great idea.

GGG could have extended the essence system to incorporate beast crafting, except you work with essences pulled from corpses instead of live beasts that get killed at an altar. Then they could have broadened the system to all mobs -- instead of narrowing the field of vision to beasts only -- and there would have been much more room for creative freedom in mixing and matching essences for crafting.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?
