I looked around, couldnt find an answer to this, sorry in advance if someone did answer this already

its not an effect with duration , every time u perform a skill theres a chance for that to be applied

um ok, so does that mean once all 3 modifiers are "applied" it lasts the entire duration of the map until you town?

No no no. You are thinking about this all wrong. It's not a buff. Every single hit has a chance to have it's damage increased. You could have a hit that get's the increase, and the next hit not.

No, it would be insanely OP.

It rolls the chance check each time you hit.

OOO i see, so the easiest way to determine a dps amount to this node would be take the average chance amongst all three mods, then take the average chaos damage increase applied of all three mods relative to the chance % ... or is my math off?

Right. I saw someone did the math on Reddit already. Came out to about 41% more damage.

i believe it will depend on how your raw dps is structured ... i am using that elder mod on an amulet for testing and the displayed mod % is not in line with the actual .. gives a good baseline for calculating though

hoping scion or inquisitor improves so i dont have to resort to playing elem or trickster i guess

It's pretty straightforward maths. 20% of 50% is 10%. 15% of 100% is 15%. 10% of 200% is 20%. 20 + 15 + 10 = 45. So it's like 45% more dps.***

***As said above, it depends on your underlying dps structure of course. It only works for hits, and non-chaos damage, and also other % added damage things like hatred and herald of fire probably won't stack multiplicatively with it.)
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:
