CI and bleed
|
So, new league is going to be first one that I play from the start and im going ED-contagion build.
At first I plan to get both life and ES, but in later levels I think I will respec into CI and all ES nodes. And get that node which makes life regen apply to Es regen instead Question is, does bleeding apply to energy shield then? Also is CI even needed at all, how dangerous is chaos damage in maps T10+ , maybe its better to have both high life and ES ? Any other tips about occultist builds are also very welcome, :) Thank you for your time Last bumped on Feb 28, 2018, 9:31:44 AM

Yes bleed applies to energy shield and as you usually have no armour to reduce the initial hit you need to be very fast off the mark at removing it with an appropriate flask.
Chaos damage isn't that relevant, its not balanced around you having 75% res so most people cope just fine without putting much focus on it, CI does synergise well with occultist but you'll need some heavy investment to get a suitable lifepool. With occultist triple curse will be super strong though so if you run say temp/enfeeble/despair as ED you'll have pretty excellent defence anyway. |

If you have similar habits to me, I have a Razer naga and I isr the side buttons for my flasks exclusively so I can use my keyboard hand for skills only, put whatever anti bleed flask you use as ci on your most common used flask button and anti freeze second like mine are always 1 and 2 on my naga. They will be the most used flasks you need to tap and you will usually go through all your maps only needing them until bosses and once you are higher level the bosses are a maybe as well.

New occultist is pretty good option for CI build but hybrid or life/mom builds are also possible and perfectly viable options.
CI + immune to chaos (nice to have but you can live without it) + higher life pool than pure life builds and most of the hybrids. - you can´t use any life flasks (you can use full stack of utility flasks), especially lacking in critical situation but for ED build it´s not as much problem (you´re not melee) - vulnerable to ailments (freeze, shock, ignite), bleed and stun (you´re immune to stun as Occultist so np here) Bleed can be mitigated through flask or Death's Door; ailments with flasks (or some special items such as dream fragment) Last edited by Rakiii#5559 on Feb 26, 2018, 8:37:27 AM

Thanks a lot guys for such fast responses,
got everything I wanted to know and more :) |

" Worth noting, Armour does jack and shit against Bleed since the rework; Bleed Damage scales with base Damage dealt, as opposed to Damage Taken by the defender. You could mitigate 90% of a Physical Hit and still take the same amount of Bleed Damage :/ ECharges and other sources of fixed %PDR do apply though, and that's generally where the difference comes from. " It's not quite that simple - a CI occultist with stun immunity has to choose between getting an extra curse, or that power charge node. If you want both then you would need to get stun immunity some other way. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

How would one go about using 3 curses, all tied to one spell and cast on hit? (never used more than one myself)
What about auras? I would think of vitality/discipline and flammability, unless occultists dont use auras usually and use curse auras instead? |

" I think it's pretty expensive to get a much higher ES pool than 7k now with the ES nerf. So this point is a bit debatable. |

" Yes, Blasphemy is convenient. But you can also use Curse on Hit or CWDT to trigger curses. |
