Recovery Rate and Life Renegeration
Alright, here is what I have observed while testing stuff recently:
1. I have some life regeneration. I have no belt equipped. Then I equip "The Flow Untethered" belt from Harbinger league (which grants "Increased Life Recovery Rate"), but my "Life Regeneration Per Second" stat on the character sheet does not change. This seems life a straight-up bug to me - either with the stat sheet, the item, and/or with life recovery, I can't tell which. 2. Let's say I have a ton of life regeneration - more than Blood Rage degens me for. If I turn on Blood Rage, then activate Immortal Call so I stop taking the degen, the "Soul of Arakali - Arachnoxia" Pantheon power SHOULD temporarily increase my "Life Regeneration Per Second" on the stat sheet by 50%, right??? WELL it doesn't. I figure this might be because my net life regeneration is always positive in this case, so I don't count as having ever taken degen damage to begin with? Even in this case, it is not clear to me if this is the intended behavior or not. So do I just not understand life recovery rate, or are one or more things bugged here? It's mighty optimistic to move this thread out of bug reports and into "Help" but OK.
Ironically, I've also just noticed that the Harbinger belt also doesn't affect my "Life Leech Rate Modifier" stat on the stat sheet either, which it definitely should. So now I'm 98% sure that something is bugged. It would be nice to know if the stat sheet is actually wrong in all three of these cases or not, so I know which of these mechanics actually work they way that I expect... |

No bug at all, character sheet is just not updating for those. No idea why they aren't fixing it either. Still works like it should though.

1) there are lots of tooltip display issues and this is most likely one of them but you should be able to see if your regen is increased or not. you can even force losing life easily in your hideout. It is supposed to work just fine
2) again, this should work just fine and it certainly does for me. Is there a possibility you are affected by some other dots like ignite, poison or death's oath? IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Feb 19, 2018, 5:56:38 PM

alrighty i tried re-testing the pantheon thing (#2.) by simply activating righteous fire and degenning to 1 life.
For the first 4 seconds after RF turns itself off, it does indeed appear that i am regenning my health significantly faster. So in the case of RF at least, it does appear to work as expected (even though the stat sheet is wrong). Blood Rage is a bit trickier to test though and I would REALLY like confirmation for this case (since it's the actually useful interaction...) " You do not understand recovery. You are close, but you fail to understand one of the fundamental issues. (EDIT: I could have formulated this more diplomatically. Your frustration about this issue is completely understandable. All of us who've tried to use and abuse this game mechanic have been there.) The issue is simple: The recovery rate determines how much you recover - it does not affect the amount you regenerate, leech, gain from potions, or whatever. These are all different forms of recovery and they are input values for the calculation of how much you actually recover, something that is affected by the recovery modifier and the recovery rate modifier. And the character sheet in-game displays your regeneration. It does not display your recovery. So if you regenerate 500 hp/s and have a recovery rate bonus of 50%, you recover 750 hp/s from the regeneration (delivered in much smaller portions during the passage of a second), but the sheet will still say 500 hp/s because that is what you are regenerating and, indeed, that is what that entry on the character sheet is labeled. "Wouldn't it be nice if the character sheet had an entry telling me how much life, mana, and energy shield I am actually recovering at any given moment? You know, the output recovery from all the various recovery inputs as modified by rates etc?" would be an obvious thought for you to have at this point, and the answer is that many of us would agree with you that it would be a fine thing, but it doesn't and that's that. And yes, this does make it rather annoying because the character sheet is completely useless as a reflection of what goes on with life, mana, and energy shield recovery when using Trickster ascendancy, Soul of Arakali, or one of the few other sources that boost recovery, but it is not a bug, because the character sheet does not claim to show recovery. (And yes, both Soul of Arakali triggered by CWDT-BR-IC, Trickster ascendancy, etc. work well, and they even work well together. In fact they are a key component of my Scionic Flametank build that recovers 50-70% ES/s of its 14k ES during fights against groups of enemies. But the only way to demonstrate that it works correctly is timing how swiftly the ES bubble fills after taking damage, because the character sheet only reflects the basic values, not recovery. :D EDIT: And timing is hard when you are recovering more than 7k ES/s!) " That makes a lot of sense mate, even though it is indeed a nuisance for what I've been trying to test. Thanks for the clarification. |

" I love your simplification. :D Also, I understand your frustration - all of us who've tried to make good use of Soul of Arakali or the Shadow's Trickster ascendancy have been there - hope I didn't come across as condescending. |

in general, tooltip is not to be trusted in poe.
Pi2rEpsilon explained it really well tho, props. with empirical testing, its really easy to see your rate. something like trickster's recovery + watchers eye + life recover belt will be over 100% recovery so your rate is basically doubled. and, something to be expected, if you depend a lot on recovery rate, the 60% less recovery mod on maps will make sure you dont have a good time ;) |
