can't launch 32 bit, it's always 64 bit?

no matter whether i launch "pathofexile.exe" or "pathofexile_x64.exe", when i get a crash or check task manager, it's always "pathofexile_x64.exe".
i am trying to troubleshoot some weird crashes and not being able to try the 32 bit client makes that somewhat difficult. Last bumped on Jan 3, 2018, 5:42:07 PM

" the client which is used (x32 or x64) is set in the configfile. you have to open the game and choose the dx9 or dx11 option in the game's settings. on the next start it will open the dx9 = 32 bit or dx11 = 64 bit client, independent which exe you started. offline
