Come on, the character models look just plain horrible. Of course there are ways to cover them up so they don't look that horrible but still. That's another story but yes the whole "engine" is a steaming piece of horsecrap too. ^^

We saw WIP of Nessa and Tarkleigh updates. I would think it strange were GGG to stop at that.

Nostalgia combined with fallibility of memory can be terrible to accept. Look no further than the "deluxe" 80s toys every major toy manufacturer is making these days for cashed up gen X adults. Theyre as well made as we remember them and roughly the same size...except theyre waaaay higher quality and quite a lot bigger.

Fwiw betrayal at krondor wasnt cutting edge graphics for 98. Unreal was the big one. And there are times when poe looks as dated as we likely remember that game.

A more fair call would be poe looks like its from the mid 2000s design wise with flourishes of modern flair.
