Vulnerability vs Punishment
Im curious with the new vulnerability
" and how it will compare to the current gem of Punishment Punishment gem grants you a buff when YOU are hit by the cursed monster, of 35% more physical melee dmg and 19% increased attack speed (24% with quality). First of all, this is a pretty shitty curse. it means you have to be hit, and even when you are the base duration of the buff is only for 4 seconds. with the change to vulnerability focusing on physical dmg, bleed and maim, i can't help but think it will 100% of the time override the current strength based physical damage curse of punishment. i mean lets face it, punishment probably is never used as is. when you're taking hits its great, but im sure vulnerability will be better in the sense that you won't need to take damage for a short duration buff, but will rather always have the curse effect on cursed enemies for added damage and probably bleed chance. thoughts? I always found Punishment to be pretty useless as it does not trigger reliably enough to be doing anything when it matters. Maybe turn it into a triggered gem that pops when you take a savage hit and/or as a support for counter attacks, like "Supported counter attacks deal xx% more damage if you have taken a savage hit recently."

mmm i actually like that idea - be half decent counter attack support
i definitely feel it doesn't proc often enough for it to be valuable as a curse - and even doesn't seem to be an actual curse because of the way it works. frickin horrible. especially in 3.1 with the vaal pact nerf i just see armor and iron reflexes going straight down the damn drain for people to stack damage avoidance instead of mitigation. this would give them time for their leech rate to cap them off before actually getting hit again. i see a future patch doing something with iron reflexes - not necessarily armor, but iron reflexes. maybe they'll do something like how it is now but also add 20% phys damage reduction to it, or just allow you to have permanent fortify (so it couldn't stack with fortify) |
