Random keystone idea for melee

2 keystones actually, in 2 stages like Acro/Phase Acro. On the outside of the Marauder tree, between the Axe and Sword clusters.

Stage 1:
- You can equip a Shield with Two-handed Swords and Axes
- 50% Less Damage with Attack Skills when wielding a Two-handed Melee weapon and a Shield

Stage 2:
- If you meet 200% of your Weapon's Attribute Requirements, 100% More Damage with Attack Skills when wielding a Two-handed Melee weapon and a Shield


In other words: the first keystone allows you to equip a 2h sword/axe and a shield, at the cost of 50% of your attack damage. The second keystone allows you to regain the lost damage at the cost of doubling the attribute requirements of your weapon.

Doesn't apply to maces because those are STR only and it would be too easy to get full damage by stacking nothing but STR, and doesn't apply to staves becase those already have block.


The beatiful part is that no matter what broken 2h/shield combos we could come up with, it would still be melee and inherently underpowered compared to everything else. :D

if it dosent apply to maces or staff then its basicaly sword and axe...


make it simple

can wear 2h melee weapons as 1h
cant attack targets outside "x" radius (to make it truly melee or very short ranged only)
self found league fan

Yeah, last time I checked you could spectral throw things like Atziri's Disfavour.

Besides that, why not just make it "requires 200% of attribute requirements"? Without that, the keystone makes absolutely no sense. One-handed axes go up to 610 pdps, while two-handed ones go up to about 880. Cut that in half and you are at 440 pdps, way less than the potential of one-handed axes. Not sure the weapon range is so much better either.

Also, hitting 316 stength and 152 dex for Atziri's Disfavour isn't exactly hard. Or 226 strength / 226 dex for a Starforge. For comparison, Mjolner requires 412 str / 300 int.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

I'm not married to the exact numbers, it could be 30% Less/150% More or something like that.

Though to be fair, even at 50% you still get 3 extra gem slots compared to a 1h weapon, with the possibility of 2 6Ls. Or indeed, a 6L, Kaom's, and a shield. Still a pretty good deal imo.

As for the requirements: sure, 160-200 DEX isn't terribly hard to get, but that was never the intention. For a build that deep into the Marauder tree, it would probably require a moderate gear investment in DEX, which I think is fair. But again, the number could be different.
