Can't run two copies at the same time anymore.
|
Can someone please test to see if they can run two copies of poe? It will only take a minute and will let me know if it's my machines or a problem on their end.
I can't run two copies of poe anymore. I keep getting the exception: "You may only run up to two copies of path of exile at one time." Except I get that when I try to run the second copy. It happens when I try to run 2x of the stand alone client or when I try to run 1x stand alone and 1x steam. Never had problems prior to 3.0 and was running two copies frequently. I checked task manager and it only shows one running, also I restarted computer just because why not, and again same message. Just shut down all copies on this computer and tried to run two on another computer, same result giving me the exception when I open the second copy. Adding that it still doesn't work with the latest patch. I wasn't expecting that patch to fix it, but I wanted to be clear that it's still not letting me run 2. Can anyone else run two? That would help me determine if it's my computers issue or a Poe issue. Last edited by OldmanBlackdragon#4644 on Sep 3, 2017, 4:13:37 PM Last bumped on Sep 5, 2017, 1:12:28 AM

Yes I've noticed same thing by incident,i actually did not want to run 2 copies but i forgot that i m alt-tabed from login screen so i tried to turn on 1 more poe.
I guess It is so you have to buy stash space and proof of the p2w here. -Add 10000kinds of cards, currency and shards -Remove any hope to transfer your item to second account -Pay or game is over because what is point of loot game if you can not pick up loot :^) Christians 1 Atheist 0 I also can not even play POE anymore, poe support team sabotaged my graphic card, the card exploded yesterday and nearly killed me,now i need new card problem is etherium miners [something like bitcoin] bought every card avaible that includes used cards. ![]() I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty, I feel pretty, and witty and gay, And I pity Any girl who isn’t me today! " It does work, however, if the original client is running DX11, you'll get two messages when attempting to start the second. The first message is the one you noted above, the second is about having to switch to DX9, apparently, DX11 doesn't support multiple clients... Moreover, after closing the secondary client, you'll need to restart the original and reset the options to DX11 and restart again. It's something that's been reported numerous times but I haven't seen a response from GGG. Edit: Added some pictures: ![]() ![]() Last edited by Kellog#5737 on Sep 3, 2017, 9:33:54 PM

Thanks for the replies that really helps, too bad about the dx11, but at least I know it's not something on my end.

I can reproduce this problem locally. I'll get this escalated and hopefully fixed soon.

I just tried running two copies of PoE stand-alone client, and both works just fine.
However, I am running DX9ex, NOT DX11 (I can't stand playing with shadows!) Hopefully this tidbit helps. 17/04/2021 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3082616/page/1
"We tell people that Path of Exile league starts are a fair playing field for everyone, and we need to actually make sure that is the reality." A BLATANT LIE by the HMFIIC. Perhaps GGG should consider a leadership change. |

I reported this like half a year ago? When they just added D3D11 mode setting (not just client). The reason is this setting works by pathofexile.exe checking mode setting, and if it's DirectX 11, then it runs pathofexile_x64.exe and immediately closes. If you run 2nd client via pathofexile.exe (rather than pathofexile_x64.exe) there will be 3 clients running at the same time for short moment - first 64 bit client, temporary 32 bit client that runs another 64 bit client. This is a pretty easy fix, just moving check for 2+ clients a bit further. I thought they already did that, but I never tried after I reported bug first time. You can temporarily work around that by running pathofexile_x64.exe directly I guess. At least it worked in the past, not sure about 3.0, can't check right now.
