Is there a maximum level of attack speed which can be achieved in PoE?

There is no hard cap. There is only a soft cap based on how many increased attack speed bonuses you are able to stack from gear/passives/skills/etc.

Check FaceLicker's thread on high attack speed. It was in Closed Beta but you might find it useful anyway.

NO, such a cap does not exist.
