What exackly is "meta"?

OK i see this everywhere but no where i can find clear and understandable definition of it.

So anyone can explain what exackly is "meta"?

In the context of a "meta build", or a "meta play-style", the word meta is actually an acronym. It stands for Most Effective Technique Avaliable. The build(s) in question would obviously be called meta as they are generally considered to be very efficient and effective in many aspects of the game. Blade Flurry, for example, was considered a meta build because it was incredibly easy to get up and running on a budget, scaled incredibly well with expensive late-game gear, and was the best single target melee skill of it's time while also being tier 1 in clear-speed. Pretty much every skill that's considered meta is similar in these aspects.

I know what meta in general mean. I have masters degree in philosophy and Aristotle metaphisics is part of this thing.

I wanted to know what "meta" means HERE.

This part - Most Effective Technique Avaliable - is most usefull to me. THX again.

For me meta is to be able to get enough currency to buy whatever a I want. 2nd is to make build viable for Shaper/Uber Atziri.

I asked this same thing about 2 years ago. It's a weird term not exactly true to its Greek roots. But they're using it pretty consistently. "The meta" is a general strategy that seems to work well no matter how incompetent the player is (at least that's my interpretation). The meta for 3.0 appears to be leeching using Vaal Pact and perhaps Zerker. Doesn't mean that everyone's doing it. It just means that players who are are doing better than they should be based on their skill set.

Shaz nailed it. Its also whatever mathil and other popular streamers is doing. while maybe not most effective its most effective those tuning in know about.

Today META's probably dark pact so enjoy it while you can. That shit is getting nerfed to the ground like the rest were (discharge, flurry etc)

Incredible AOE, single target and immune to reflect even. In many ways its the ultimate META.
