wand vs scepter.
So what is better for a mage?
i know the differences dont get me wrong.. a wand is ranged and has SDI. a scepter is melee/1hmace and has EDI. You could say a scepter is better for a melee character who uses elementa damage on their weapon and not a good pick for a mage at all.. however scepters still do get mage rolls over melee rolls so its a bit confusing.. Anyone with more thoughtpower than me to give some advice? newnewnew

It's all about preference I guess.
Not sure how spell damage works but I know melee scepters benefit from % cold & % fire from weapons and increase your elemental damage. |

What I have noticed is that if you are getting more Int from the Skill tree then you wont be able to equip scepters. And the higher you level the bigger the gap gets.
it seems to me that your stats will determine which unique weapon templates you will gravitate towards. and it seems roughly like a one way journey; if you pick a templar, and end up with a split mix of strength and int, then its a safe get that the weapons you will be able to equipe will be the ones with those particular stats required. a weapon that needs Dex and Int will not be usable. with that in mind you can be a bit more ruthless about what qualities you look for in a main hand or off hand equip. socket colour and links, item level, etc. etc. This has been my experience anyways. I started paying more attention to the affixes of a weapon and the sockets than I used to..:P of course this is one of the beautiful things about this game is just how knotted together, confusing and debatable all of the math is. Just layers and layers of numbers tugging at your shirt sleeves with every drop.... |

" Yes, the role of a sceptre is that it is good for both melee elemental damage and elemental spells. " There is about an equal chance for caster and melee rolls on sceptres. The caster rolls on sceptres are useful for builds that use spells for AoE and melee elemental for single-target. Alteration Orb Union Local #7 "Holding the line, on sixteen to one!" I prefer the sceptre:
You will never see a man faking anger, passion and relentless behavior.
You will always see a man faking love, politeness and respectful behavior. |

A Dagger
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Depends on the stats rolled on the weapon, and if you can equip it or not.
Other than that, what ever increases the damage more. "Minions of your minions are your minion's minions, not your minions." - Mark

^what he said
On my witch I used to use this wand but then, later, I found this scepter |

I use this while leveling up my Ethereal Knives guy. Depends what you want for the implicit property (wands have spell damage, sceptres elemental dmg). Both can roll pretty much the same properties. They say I'm an astronaut that laughs a lot.

" You are aware elemental damage doesnt effect EK right? Also, a Witch posted a sceptor with increased attack speed. Which does not effect spells (Freeze pulse/Fire trap) It isnt really abou the class, it's about the abilities you are using. I wonder how long it's gonna take for the community to stop asking "what is best for XX class" and start asking "what is best for XX build/skills" The best weapon is the one that supports your build the best. Wands are better for EK because spell damage effects it. Both sceptors and wands are good for Freeze Pulse/fire trap, because they both increase it's damage. However, wands will normally get you better rolls for elemental spells. |
