Why did The raveous god quest fail? I didnt kill fast enough or what?

IIRC that quest is meant to be failed to do part 2 of the game.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

I haven't done that yet myself, but I'm guessing it's like The Way Forward quest when Piety blocks the the road.

Yep,you aren't meant to defeat Kitava the first time. After he does a certain attack,he destroys the Staff and Sin carries you away so you can begin act 6.
