Frostbolt Totem + Ice Nova/Vortex

The Patch notes say:

"

Vortex now deals 40% more damage when cast on a Frostbolt.

Ice Nova now deals 40% more damage when cast on a Frostbolt.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how this interaction works.

I was thinking of using frostbolt totem to cast frosbolts, and then self casting Ice Nova/Vortex

Now. I was previously under the impression this didn't work based on the description:

"A chilling circle of ice expands from the caster. If the caster targets near one of their Frostbolt projectiles, it will expand from the projectile instead."

However, since it says cast on "a frostbolt" does that mean I can cast vortex/ice nova on any frostbolt now?

I tested this in Beta. It doesnt work. The frostbolts need to be YOUR frostbolts. Totems etc don't count.

Kind of a bummer. But it would probably be OP now I think of it.

I thought it would be fun some how with hierophant Illuminated Devotion. I like that ascendancy node, just haven't found a way to really take advantage of it. other than maybe like Bringer of Rain or Rime Gaze, but IDK.

Yeah, that is a great league starter ascendancy keystone. Add in essence of horror and you have a pseudo six link.

Right! Yeah, I like the idea of finding a way to utilize all three. I've got some ideas with both the frostbolt and spark threshold jewels.

Totem in helm with +ele pen from ascendancy (with horror as soon as I can buy one reasonably), self cast w/ the leech in boots from ascendancy for sustain, and probably orb of storms + CoH in gloves with the +aoe from ascendancy.

Then probably +2 totems and the passive power and endurance charge generation as final.

But we'll see.

May do just Inquis frostbolt totems, or spark scion of some kind (maybe mines, maybe self cast)

ED+Contagion looks so strong I might just do that and do some lab farming with it too. Or just EQ Juggernaught or Slayer. Lab looks like it will actually be enjoyable now.

So much indecision every time a league starts!! I might literally just spin a wheel :)
