Tear of Purity Suggestion: No Reserved Mana

Tear of Purity just dropped. When I first read it, I thought it would grant the skill without any cost. After equipping it, I was saddened to find that its "Grants Level 10 Purity of Elements" was not as cool as initially hoped.

My suggestion is to make Tear of Purity do what I hoped: Grant level 10 Purity of elements. No mana reserve or other cost. Equipping the item gives you that ability.

Here is my reasoning: Obtaining purity of elements is not difficult. Buy it from Siosa. Equipping the gem is not difficult. It requires one blue socket. Having Purity of Elements on Tear of Purity doesn't really do anything beneficial. There's no cost / benefit decision to make. The only problem it solves is if a person wanted to run Purity of Elements, but just didn't have a blue socket.

If Tear of Purity granted the effect without incurring the mana reserve cost, then it could lead to interesting questions of cost. Is it worth giving up my amulet slot to have "free" +20% elemental resist? Is avoiding the mana reserve cost worth not being able to level the skill above 10?

I think that would be interesting. And I think in terms of design, an item giving someone a skill should be cool. It should be a unique situational perk. Right now, Tear of Purity is just an int amulet with one filler line of text.

Considering you can get a rare amulet with higher resistances plus actually useful stats, I don't see why not. The same applies to most of those uniques.
While I agree that it's not very useful to use that amulet instead of one with higher stats having 20% for all elemental resistance is not equal to a free purity of elements.

1st you can't stack the same aura twice (that's actually a plus for 20% to all elemental resistance)
2nd the 20% elemental resistance don't work for minions nor party, the aura does. IT'S AN AURA!
3rd purity of elements like all auras effecting you counts as a buff this influences a few uniques like Mantra of Flames
I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Tear of Purity have something like "30% Reduced Purity of Elements Mana Reserved" (somewhat arbitrary number). Entirely free is always a bit questionable imo due to Aura synergy Ascendancies, but being able to get a very cheap Purity could be neat. Easier to slot in alongside your other Reservations, and Reduced-type means it's supereffective with Reservation Passives. Give it a more distinct advantage alongside 'doesn't take a Socket'.
