Corrupted Essence Problem

Hello,

I wanted to corrupt essence to obtain one of the following essences : hysteria, insanity, horror or delirium. For that I have to corrupt an essence of Misery, Dread, Scorn, Envy.

So in a map I saw an essence that contain Scorn + Loathing. So I corrupted it with a remnant of corruption.

Result : The essence immediately "broke" and when the monster has been killed, I received only an essence of Scorn and an essence of Loathing.

Can someone explain how to get it ? The wiki is not enough accurate for me.

There are several possibilities when you use the Remnant on the Essence mob. RNG decides what you get.

One possibility is the mob immediately breaks out and attacks. As you observed, I do not believe that one corrupts the essences.

So keep trying.

"corrupteting" essences is like corrupting items, you have multiple outcomes rolls randomly, you need some RNG for that, but the odds of getting the ideal one is not that low like vaaling, several try would do.

I have done this on about 20 maps so far in which I found maybe 10-12 purple essences to corrupt and still couldnt drop one, also saw a thread that its bugged? If so have lost my last few divines and will need to quit the league :(

Pretty sure I've hit a corrupted essence upgrade recently, so don't think it's bugged - would have been a few days ago, though, so possible there's been a change.

Mostly sounds like you just got RNG-screwed. Quick calculation says the chance of not hitting the upgrade in ten tries is around 5.6% - so definitely unlucky, but not 'WTF this must be broken'-level unlucky.

If you allocate the chance-to-contain-a-corrupted-essence Atlas tree passives you usually generate enough to corrupt most/all the purple essences without needing to buy anything - I'd suggest do that and keep trying.

Update, have done about 35 maps now:
1. Using scarabs of stability,calcification and ascent essence
2. Using essence on map device
3. Made sure not to miss any of the purples and corrupt them, atleast 1 every 2 maps

Still no corrupted essences :((
How did you calculate the chance of 5.6% in 10 tries ?
