Have A Question About Contests/Giveaways

Hello, players & GGG Admins

I was woundering is it against the rules to host a contest/giveaway for in game items/currency....for example players that want to enter said contest would enter their name and email then have to gain points ( 1 points = 1 entry example )?

I'm using a service that makes my contest/giveaways automated, so it tracks how many points a player has,by using the name and email they enter. so having the players enter with name and email is a must.....

I was planning on hosting a giveaway for some currency or ingame items....please let me know what you all think....

Would it be open to everyone?

Or would it be limited to, for example, people who subscribe to you on Twitch?

Their real life name or their Path of Exile account name?

Why do they need to tell you their e-mail address?

And how do they do this?

This feels like you're deliberately withholding information.

Why does it need two separate ways to identify each person? Isn't that superfluous?

If e-mail addresses are required, could you not use fake ones as placeholders?

I'm going to be honest... this doesn't feel right. This feels very dodgy.
GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

The contest would be opened to anyone who gets the contest link....

To be able to track the points, the people have to subscribe on a form, then the system tracks that person and thier points they have earned....the people can earn points by sharing on social media and sharing thier link

The more points said player has more entries, when the end dates comes my service automatically picks winner and automatically sends an email with the instructions to receive xxxx prize...

using fake email would be not recommended as you will receive emails regarding your points and an email if you win, plus will email on future contest/giveaways

Have already hosted a similar contest for a csgo skin....

This is very much against the rules. It's not a giveaway at all if people are doing something for you in return for entry. It's external trading.

Yep, but Valve is fine with external trading. GGG is not.
Have you done something awesome with Sire of Shards? PM me and tell me all about it!

Semantics aside, that's not okay.

You're trading the prize for exposure. No point trying to put it any other way.

I don't see how this is against the rules, people sign up to contest for the chance to win xxxx prize, they share the contest with other to earn points and increase thier chances of winning....hows this against the rules please show me in the terms of service where it states this?

This is no different then streamers asking for monthly payments in turn gives said person and people in the stream points towards thier giveaways/contest

Then send an e-mail to support@grindinggear.com and let staff decide.

But I might point out if you thought it was legit, you probably wouldn't be trying to keep secrets. First you don't tell us how people would earn points, then you mention they'd have a link but don't mention what to. Are they promoting the giveaway page? Your Twitch stream? Something else entirely?

You felt the need to ask, and then you were evasive while asking.

...but, to answer your question;

Well how do streamers do it? answer me this.....poe streamers use points system so if people pay for example 10 dollars monthly said player gets points towards their in game item giveaways..... You're giving people in-game items for out-of-game compensation ( Compensation )

Also advertisement is not compensation im not getting paid from said advertisement, if anything it gets more people the chance to win said prize...

Contacting ggg myself...thanks for email
