Playing wih a lower level friend, EXP?

Hello !

So I want to play with my friend and he's underleveled (we have a 15~20 level difference) and I was wondering if we could still play together; I would gain less EXP and he would catch up with me eventually by partying together.

I've read :
http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Experience#Party_play
But didn't really understand how it works..

So, does anyone know?

Yeah, party experience share is a bit odd. Short version: the underleveled player gets less experience. Powerleveling is not really a thing.

The important part of the wiki explanation is this little bit:
Level 10 player's share: (10+10)^2.71 = 3355
Level 30 player's share: (30+10)^2.71 = 21957
The level 30 player gets most of the "share", meaning most of the experience.

If you're level 50 and they're level 35, the math works out as follows:
(50+10)^2.71 / ((50+10)^2.71 + (35+10)^2.71) =
65885 / (65885 + 30212) = 0.68
The level 50 player gets 68% of experience gained, the level 35 player gets 100 - 68 = 32%.

(the table at the bottom of the wiki section shows the relevant values as well: you can skip to the last step of the calculation by referencing the table :) )

(also worth noting: questions belong in Gameplay&Help, not General :P )

Hmm, wasn't really thinking about powerleveling but more like playing along side together and waiting for him to catch up as we complete his quests, since I started the game earlier.

That's kinda odd to me, since the level cap is so high.
That means if someone who played A LOT is telling one of his friends to try PoE they would not be able to play together until weeks at least; or if both restart the whole game.

Well it depends on how quickly you are progressing. Plenty of experienced players get to maps in a day of play on a character. That makes "catching up" pretty quick.
U MAD?
