dot version of doryani's catalyst

either a scepter or wand base, unsure which would fit better.

50% less chaos damage
50% less elemental damage
50% less physical damage
200% more damage over time

20% less attack speed
20% less cast speed

.2% of damage over time regenerated as life (like how ed does it)

end result should be something like half hit damage, and (net) 150% damage over time compared to before this item, which is huge considering how double dipping works.

edit: change [leech] to [regen]

I know it's just a number part but 150% is completely ridiculous for any pure dot (in 3.0 it is possible that ignite, bleed, poison could be 'pure dot' if the scaling on dot is significant compared to generic double apply/hit damage) build since double dipping is getting removed, like said so the negative double dip on 50% less wouldn't occur and in the case (currently) it would occur it would be a net of... 25% less damage over time

Also i know you mean by how ED does it but it isn't leech! Please don't use the keyword leech! It is misleading and wrong! :(

I know 0.2% is rather low but remember when people complained about bino's granting like 20k life/second regeneration or something.

I mean there will it won't really be many case where the regen is out of control with 0.2%, you'd need to have multiple targets tanky enough to not die instantly die in order to get any regeneration resembling a life flask in a situation that matters (boss fight)

We definitely have an absence of pure dot unique items, only significant one being witchfire brew which is half used for vuln, also we got those new bleed gloves which for some reason grant a bit of generic damage over time (not even physical man wtf?) and have no noteworthy defences and a tiny bit on some weapons (bino's, rive).
Well there is beyound league scepter with ~70 increased damage and prophecy league one.

But just to be clear, Chaos conversion and stuff like RF will be insane like omfg you serious.
People kill shaper on pseudo 5L, helm or gloves crafted with essences and thats only 30% more ele or DoT damage, can you imagine holding two of thos scepters with RF?

You guys realize that this is essentially only a 50% more damage over time mod. If you're doing 100 chaos damage with a DoT then it gets multiplied by 0.5 by the 50% less chaos damage mod down to 50, then multipled by 3 by the 200% more damage over time mod for a total of only 150, not 250. I think it's a cool idea to turn a normal skill into more of a pure DoT skill and this is a cool way to do it. It should just say "200% more ailment damage" so that it doesn't affect things like blight and righteous fire. By the way, I think that leech mod should be phrased as "Regenerate for 0.2% of damage over time" as DoT can't leech and that is how essence drain is written.

good input, but i want to leave things open for righteous fire and blight, since i believe they both need a bit of help. *my opinions on those subjects may be wrong due to lack of information*

will edit for the regen thing though.
My bad sorry, i didn't check the numbers, at the bottom op said net 150%, I misread and thought meant more and not 150% total. In any case I like to see more dot specific stuff, especially like this one with penalty to non-dots. Though I do think this item is more like a keystone than item now that I think about it again.

In recent FAQ responses post they said they will scrutinizing items that interact with damage over times, but I'm sure a lot of existing ones them are generic damage modifiers or fire damage modifiers, breath of the council is chaos specific.
