How many people are playing this game actively?

Does anyone know?

12. Of course, there being 12 doesn't mean that there isn't 13.

Probably a few more than that - I think that's the number of magnificent sarcastic b*stards lurking in General forums.
Timezone: GMT +10 (Australia). CASUAL player but I play whenever I can.
Since a number of players don't play through the Steam client there's always a bit of a question mark over the veracity of it, but Steam Charts lists 15,389 people who had the game client open 17ish minutes ago.

It's not all that helpful, but it's marginally better than nothing.

Thounsands and thousands actively
but I'm pretty sure there's more than a million of casuals or at least accounts created.

I thought I wanted to join the military - I heard they were frequently 'at ease' - and that's something I like. But I realized I could never join the military, because I disagree with their version of 'at ease'. Standing rigidly with my hands behind my back, feet spaced perfectly apart and pointed slightly outwards is not easy for me. I'll continue to be 'at ease' at home on my couch.

It's hard to say how many players are playing actively this game.
Few things to know Path of Exile is also distributed in China on separate realm as far as i know wich doesn't have public stats correct me if i'm wrong.

Second thing is we don't have any statements or proof about it but it seems that more players are using the standalone client of Path of Exile wich put them out of steam charts.

Other things to consider to obtain a number that actualy make sense, it would be important to setup some criteria about what do you mean by Actively ( 1h per days ? 10h ? 100 hours per months ? etc ... ).

You also need to remove players that have a considerable amount of time AFK.
Also consider that many players are using two accounts ( one for playing other one for trading ) it's a really common practice.

Only GGG could do some sort of stats like that but there arn't much advantages in publishing them, path of exile is popular but not enough to catch the same amount of players than some AAA games, and lot of players are judging a game on the number of players that play it before giving it a try ( same story than performances, p2w aspect or not etc ... ).

Soo actualy i think publishing realistic statistics would be an error. What would be great is merging standalone statistics to steam charts tought, at least it would show the game is bigger than players tend to think when watching them. There are more chance somebody discover POE trought steam than with a random google search ( even if i found it like that few years ago actualy ). With the amount of players expected with upcoming 3.0 it could be a really good thing to do it.

We don't even have enough data to put an estimation that's sad.

I dont see any any key!

I think the number of PoE players is 42. It always ends up being 42. Everyone should know that.

But just go to PoE Steam Charts, take that number, and quadruple it to get a more accurate (or not, don't know what % of total plays Steam PoE) daily player numbers. At least it's better than nothing as GGG never releases PoE statistics.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.
