Some way to deal with immobilization -- yet another melee QQ
|
90% of my deaths when playing a melee character are due to immobilization.
You can't kill the enemy, you can't leech (or LGOH), ES characters can't even use heal flasks (plus they get punished with longer duration from things like bear trap ). Ranged characters don't suffer from any of that (ok, ranged ES characters still can't use heal flasks). Sure, in both cases, they can't dodge or run away, but there's still a huge difference there. To make things worse, Vaal Rain of Arrows and Bear Trap (the two things that I know do it... maybe more do too?) BOTH are unevadable, and Bear Trap is also undodgeable and unblockable. Sure, you CAN "play around it" to some degree, but if the screen's super busy, it's not really viable to dodge EVERY bear trap AND remember where they all are for the whole rest of the fight, and there's no clear indicator of the recharge time of Vaal ROA. Currently, you have 3 methods as a melee character to deal with this: 1) Leap Slam -- IF you're using an axe, mace, sword, or staff. And you don't mind giving up a gem slot simply to counter a rare mechanic. And you can still only really run away (unless you can leap slam to the enemy and attack them before they move away, then rinse and repeat). This is a pretty ganky solution. 2) Portal out/disconnect. This burns a portal, at best. If you're in a lab, you're losing all progress. 3) Run in a decent party that can nuke the offending enemy before it kills you. -4) IF you're a juggernaut, AND you take unstoppable, AND only against vaal rain of arrows. So yeah, doesn't count. Now, granted, this isn't exactly the end of the world -- after all, there ARE 3 things listed above, and even if you use a claw and play solo, #2 will always work. But I don't really see why there shouldn't be a real solution. I mean, we have flasks to remove (or make us immune to) EVERY other status ailment in the game (ok, maybe not poison, but that's subject to Chaos Resist). If we can pop a flask to remove freeze, shock, burning, bleeding, curses, maybe some others?... why not immobility? I, for one, would happily fit it into my flask arrangement. Heck, I would take a flask that does nothing BUT remove the dang thing.
