What is the best Melee Skill for the most efficient Life Leech Build Possible?

I want to make a Duelist with 8% Life Leech, 200% increased Leech per second and Endless Hunger (Life Leech effects are not removed at full life)

I want it to be pure physical damage so i can make it as efficient at Life Leech as possible so i will probably using a 2 handed Starforge.

What skill would benefit this build best? ...A skill with big hits? ...Will faster small hits be inefficient at Life Leech?

In your opinion what skill would be best? I tried Fliker Strike with Terminus Edge but the build failed because Multistrike doesn't help it generate more frenzy charges then it consumes.

So now i am theorycrafting a melee skill that is strictly more efficient at Life Leech then others.

I have very good experiences with cyclone. It has a pretty huge aoe if you go for it (+1 range from a jewel, +2 range from duelist node, +1 range from sword node in marauder area, increased aoe from starforge), has very high attack speed and reasonably strong hits. I managed to ou-leech a vaal detonate dead from bameth with cyclone in a t6 map. I know, nothing all that high, but vaal detonate dead would normally kill you even there.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
Cyclone has small hits, isn't that bad for leech that isn't instant? I'm trying to avoid Vaal Pact and Atziri's Acuity Gloves because i really want my leech to not end at full life.

Isn't a skill with bigger hits better for leech?
It doesn't matter imo. Leech is based on how hard you hit, yes, but in the end you it depends on your actual dps. As you know, leech effects stack, so getting multiple small leech stacks pretty much has the same effect that getting one large leech stack has.
The only thing that really depends on the size of the hit in this case is the overkill leech, which I don't like to rely on in the first place.

Given equal DPS and always reaching cap, higher damage per hit also results in higher leech duration, in exchange for slower ramp up. Cyclone has 56.4% of base damage per hit, Heavy Strike has 193.7%, so, AoE/single target considerations aside, leech effects would last 193.7%/56.4% = 3.4344 as long, or 243.4% more leech duration. So if you're able to Cyclone one enemy until it dies and you get to "carry your leech" without any more attacks for 10 seconds, switching to Heavy Strike and assuming no loss in DPS would allow you to "carry your leech" for 34.3 seconds.

In practice you probably want to use Lacerate.

OMG i never knew leech could apply more then one stack

-i always thought that leech was based on the damage dealt from your hit with a cap of 20% of maximum health per second and every consecutive hit just increased the duration, i had no idea leech stacks existed

This changes everything.
ups, double post

yeah they changed how leech works a little while back, it stacks now.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
So to sum it up: small fast hits for faster recovery, big slow hits for a longer duration.

Leech is quite complicated in this game. I suggest you read up more on how leech exactly works before building one. Some builds with only 0.8% leech can end up healing faster than your 8% because they manipulate the mechanics better.
