Would Elemental Equil work with Ice Nova+Pyre Ring?

Since Pyre converts all cold damage to fire damage, would Elemental Equilibrium work as follows:

Ice Nova hits as cold, mob gains resistance to cold but lowers resist on lightning and fire, then the fire damage kicks in for 50% extra?

PoE in general and in 99% of the cases does not work like this. If it Converts all cold to fire then it does not hit as cold. Period.
and I've only died 39 times. (c) Libbritania ( tokimeki ).
Eh?

First of all, you need a legacy Pyre for this, i.e. if you play leagues, then you'd need a green Relic Pyre from an Ancient Reliquary. "New Pyre" only has 40% conversion.

Secondly of all, there's no way for it to "hit as cold" and then also have "fire damage kicks in." Elemental Equilibrium is based on the actual damage you deal unlike the tags on a skill, which might be why you think you can have your cake and eat it too? (This can be the case with at least one of the elements for Elementalist's Mastermind of Discord, because it says "X Skills," not "X Damage.")

What would actually happen in the scenario you describe is that you hit the enemy with Fire Damage, which makes them resistant to Fire and vulnerable to Cold and Lightning (assuming you don't have any sources of added elemental damage there). The fact that the skill is called Ice Nova and tagged Cold does nothing there due to 100% conversion.

Ah I wasn't aware Pyre got changed in 2.6.

And that's why I asked, to find out exactly how it worked. THanks.

it doesn't matter if Pyre in question is legacy or not:
-with legacy Pyre, you hit enemies with 100 fire damage, they get 25 fire res and -25 cold and lightning
-with new Pyre, you hit enemies with 60cold+40fire, they get 25 cold and fire and -25 lightning
In any case you don't get buff to your damage.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
