Prophecies are the best recent addition to PoE

Most of the new mechanics introduced to PoE are basically the same thing - you fight more enemies for a chance to get more items. This goes from the midly interesting (the Beyond League) to the pathetic (the Warband League), but in the end they're all variations within the same theme. Very few updates actually add something new to the game, like the Masters update.

The Prophecies are something new. Instead of just being a bunch of enemies giving more items, they are incredibly varied, with some conditions that change how some areas work, some upgrades to old unique, or just changes to old encounters.

I wish the drop rate of Silver Coins would increase, considering how interesting they are. I have noticed that I'm finding very few of them in Merciless.

(And for the records, Divination Cards are by far the worst addition to the game. I have just completed the Pacifism set, which is great - the most useless mechanic in the game rewarding the most useless item in the game.)

I like Prophecies too! For the people who complain about backtracking (which has been greatly improved - most of the time you just have to enter an area and boom you've "trashed" the Prophecy), why not pay your laziness tax? Seal costs have even been reduced since Prophecy introduction.

I have an excess of Silver Coins both in Standard and Breach as I have been focusing on other goals most of the time. I guess it is an incentive to trade for people who want to run Prophecies 100% of the time day and night. But for me, the "save up and occasionally run a bunch" playstyle has been good to me.

I agree, but they can still improve on keeping track of some prophecies you finished already, especially the ones leading to keys for the pale council. I'm eager to see new ones when Act V rolls in.
I agree. prophecy was a breath of fresh air.
I have seen a lot of Prophecies about killing a given enemy while wearing a specific unique. Playing self found in a new league, there's no way I'll be able to complete those.

And yet, I still enjoy them. Being able to upgrade uniques is one of the very few things I think Diablo does better than PoE; by adding a way to upgrade the uniques, with a lot of RNG (otherwise it wouldn't be PoE :P) but with a more balanced way than the Breach unique updates, GGG is doing players a big favor.
