Understanding shared loot settings.

I started playing this game with a friend today. We quickly discovered that all loot seems to be shared.

Trying to find information on how to change this I stumbled upon the possibility of changing the settings as a party leader. So I went and invited my friend and set the item allocation to permanent.

If I understand correctly, currency items like scrolls of wisdom should not be shared. However they still are and we would really like to play without shared loot especially if it's currency items which the melee class will always be taking away easily.

So what's going on here? What I also find annoying is that when I remake the party the setting will be reset to Short Allocation.

Change your default to permanent allocation and then when you are the party leader, every new instance will be that allocation. Instances get their allocation when they are created, so any created before the change will still be at whatever the allocation was at the time they were made. Have your friend change his default too and then it won't matter which of you is the party leader.

Thanks for the reply. I changed the default setting and we setup a new party. It seems to work now. We can both see every item that drops but now only one of us can pick up the currency items.

I suppose only rarer and better items are allocated to a player?
Pretty much currency, rares, and items that are higher item level than the area (drops from bosses, etc.) are allocated.

just a nitpick: permenent loot isn't really "permanent", it just allocates loot for 5 minutes. allocation also stops if the player which it got allocated to leaves the area.

also, loot from breakables (vases and stuff) isn't allocated, so it may occur that you see currency which both of you can pick up.

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
