Does Level matter?
Other than the extra passives and the access to better gear, does your level play a factor in combat?
Like, if I am struggling getting gear or whatever, and I am level 50 and dying in a level 52 area and i decide to go somewhere else and level to 56. Once I finish leveling i venture back to the level 52 area i just got owned in without spending my newly acquired passives nor i obtaining any new gear, would the combat feel any different to me as a 56 in that previously difficult level 52 area? would i still be getting owned? or would me being higher level give me more might against those level 52's? if i am not mistaken you get +X stats per lvl. you are gonna do more dmg and have more hp/defence (little but more)

" Gaining a level doesn't play into combat mechanics directly. Gaining a level will give you modest increases to your maximum life total, maximum mana total and evasion scores and those will affect combat. Gaining a level will also affect the experience point rewards you are awarded for killing monsters in a given area (like the docks). " You are mistaken, in that you do not gain more offensive power. You do gain defensive stats. edit: typo and replied to spoc002 Last edited by Ladderjack#2496 on Feb 21, 2013, 9:24:37 AM

so if you are under geared for an area, trying to compensate by over leveling may not make much of a difference then.

Extra levels also power up your skills, for magic spells 1 extra level does a ton of improvement.
1 skill point for me gives about 110hp from 8% health nodes, or if I were an easymoder marauder/templar it can give me +15 resist all, a couple of skill points make a very big difference. |

Levels can also help you level up your skill/support gems which can make a huge difference in offensive capabilities.
