[Tool] Life Leech Calculator - newbie friendly
Life Leech Calculator:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U1x5ul8DJ6Kco4dDh2-EBaSJ1Hjpw5VLwb13ASuTQxo/edit?usp=sharing Hi folks, I was always slightly confused by leech mechanics so I finally decided to study it a bit more in-depth. In the process I made a leech calculator. Calculations for leech instances are simplified, they assume you create them only using main source of damage excluding stuff like trigger gems. It has comments added on the side to help newer players grip the mechanics a bit easier. Hope someone will find it useful. Feedback is encouraged. Some tips regarding leech: 1. Leech stats affect each other in a certain way. Try to find an optimal balance. Consider what stats your build can efficiently get on the passive tree and gear. Using this calculator you can determine what you should focus on. 2. If you have a hard time reaching your leech cap with 10 leech instances - invest in "#% increased Life Leeched per second". 3. If you reach leech cap easily - invest in "#% of maximum Life per second to maximum Life Leech rate" and/or maximum life. 4. Attack speed and hits on multiple enemies are crucial to getting max leech instances. You can have up to 10 leech instances and as Wiki explains it: "These instances can stack meaning a single hit against multiple targets will grant multiple instances, as will multiple hits against a single target." That is great if you can hit multiple enemies at once (qood AoE) or single enemy in quick succession (10 or more attacks per second). 5. In current meta high maximum hp is a vital part of defence, more so than damage mitigation. Every skill point matters so getting like 20% block is less efficient that just getting ton of hp. That's why try to pick leech nodes that are close to your main tree and give extra bonuses. For example, Blood Drinker passive gives you life but also some leech so if you start as a life based Shadow, it's a no-brainer. 6. Vaal Pact builds: If you have VP your leech will not be affected by "#% of maximum Life per second to maximum Life Leech rate" and "#% increased Life Leeched per second". You can skip those stats but try to focus on increasing dps and "#% damage leeched as life". 7. General type of leech is the best, physical/elemental type only leeches from that particular portion of damage you deal. 8. Berserker and Slayer are kings of leech. If you take one of those it's worth investing in leech on tree and items. Otherwise it's a matter of "how many skill points I can spare after my tree is filled nicely". Use "," not "." for decimals. Missing the Leech-Stacks.. max Leech Stacks needed per 1 Mop or more to reach max leech cap rate....
I have a up-to-date leech calculator, but thx for that version, its ok. |

" By "Leech stacks" I assume you mean leech instances? They are there, very clearly visible. Last edited by HankCzinaski#1818 on Nov 29, 2016, 6:09:04 AM

" Yeah, but what i mean is more for the guys who need to know at which point its better to invest in attack speed/max life leech rat/max life to get asap the maximal leech you need/Want. e.g. you have 10k life your incoming damage every second is 2k so you need minimum a 2k life leech per seconds to handle it ~ 0 If you have 1.8k what to do to get that 2k. More life? Hard at this points (10k life is near maximum in one build for this example), maybe its better to stack attackspeed, but how much i need to get faster my instance.. or whats about increase maximum leech cap and so on... Thats not clearly .. i mean the big picture behind a small overview Last edited by SiegfriedXX#1262 on Nov 30, 2016, 8:54:18 AM

Sure, I understand. That's why I included side notes and the tips section in the original post. Best way to do it is to experiment in the calculator with different values.
Let's take your example: Your goal is to reach 2k leech. But you can't increase maximum life anymore. Grab the calculator, input relevant stats. What you need to check then, "is my leech cap below 2k?" [cell C6]: 1. If the answer is yes, input into calculator any "#% of maximum Life per second to maximum Life Leech rate" you can possibly get on the tree. If that didn't help you're in bad luck since only increasing max life would help and we determined it's not possible to get it higher in this case. 2. If the answer is no, you need to ask yourself a question "is my actual leech below 2k?" [cell C21]: a) If the answer is no, you're all set. You reached your goal of 2k leech. b) If the answer is yes, first, make sure you have enough attack speed and/or aoe to create 10 simultaneous leech instances (this is hard to estimate but as a general rule, if you have some aoe it's enough vs multiple enemies, but you'll need attack speed of at least 10 aps vs bosses that spawn no adds). [cell C10] second, make sure you have enough damage and "#% damage leeched as life" on tree and gear and input into calculator any possible upgrades to those stats. If that does not help, input "#% increased Life Leeched per second" stat that you can possibly get on tree. If after trying in the calculator different stat combinations, that you can get from the tree and gear, you can't achieve 2k leech, it's a build limitation. You might want to redesign the whole tree or get other gear. |

Someone has been having fun messing with cell formating. Way to go dude.
Please don't do that, it just makes thing less clear. |

Fixed a problem with the calculator. Not sure why Google Docs bugs out sometimes.
I'm not very active in POE this days so if there's a problem with the calculator post a comment inside the document, I'll get a notice in my gmail acccount which I check regularly. Oh and remember to use "," for decimals! (not ".") |

" This is why I tend to post two links when I'm posting Google Sheets: One for people to mess with, and one that's locked in case the other one gets vandalised. Makes it pretty easy to restore the other one while still giving huge convenience factor when there are no vandals. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/
