Question about Unset rings

Obviously they can give you a little utility from squeezing in another gem slot.

But what value do they have? I am pretty new to this game (started in prophecy) and haven't started to trade yet. So I don't have a feel for these things yet.

Do white rings have any trade value for crafting?

Or do you just hope to find a unique unset (is this even possible?)

Unset Rings have no intrinsic value. Most builds don't want them at all and would rather any other ring, although the builds that do want them really want them.

High-ilvl white rings can be useful to craft, but I wouldn't bother with unsets because they're quite niche.

There are in fact many unique unsets.

I might keep a couple around for gear flexibility while I level.

Hate to pop in after a discussion's already finished, but there are a few gems that work well unlinked, sort of like Diablo II's infamous "one-point wonders." For example, if you don't have them elsewhere with links, it can give you a nice boost to have a Golem or Totem. Also, Enduring Cry doesn't need supports to do its job.

Vaaling unset can get rid of implict or it can't? What will happen to socket then? I made my reserach but after spending all vaal orbs (1) I still don't know.

Play a classic summoner. You'll want Unset rings in a heart beat. Shit, you'll want a socket in your amulet, and sockets in your belt too. There are builds that are STARVED for sockets that make use of unset rings.
