Why do some people hate Neversink's loot filter?

Why do some people hate Neversink's loot filter? I've come across online comments such as "Still using Nevertrash's filter? What a noob."

I mean, what's wrong with this popular filter? These people seldom give alternatives and when they do, they don't say why those alternatives are better. They don't even explain what's wrong with Neversink's filter. So, I want to know, what am I missing here?

Because this is the internet, and it's not enough to just have a preference, you have to hate everything you don't prefer.

same here...
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
It isn't about hate, it is about providing options.

Someone asks about what filter to use.

close your eyes, count to 5

open your eyes

neversink
neversink
neversink

Like nothing else exist, no explanation, nothing.

Right now i would recommend the default filter until you need a specialized crafting or raceing one.
Other peoples filters support their play style. I make my own.

I've used a few different filters made by someone else. I quit poe for a few months (a month before the new wow xpac until this weekend) and when I came back I looked for an up to date filter. Neversink was the first to show up. So, I'm currently using it.

The neon colors are meh.
I'll absolutely make changes to it, just like every other filter I've used.
It does the job.
The changes I make will most likely be a lot like the changes I've made to previous filters I've used. Color, outline and size adjustments along with something to highlight a specific base for a unique that I want to spend chances on. Or alchemy orbs base items. I can do this with any base filter, so long ass it works before I make changes to it.

IMO, it's a little silly to think everyone will want to build their own filter from the ground up. There is way too much code in most filters, for good reason. It's going to usually be easier to just make changes to any filter that exists and is up to date than to make your own.
Where there's one they're bound to divide it right in two.
I use ZiggyD's filter rather than Neversink's, partially because I'm an atrocious idionoob and partly because filters with loud, obnoxious random noises for everything chisel and higher and Third Grader Meth Party clashing neon colors bother the shit out of me. If I want to play Borderlands I'll play Borderlands; until then I'd prefer my filter to not be a constant circus of clangoring, clashing weirdness. Ziggy's filter is low impact that way, hiding the junk and highlighting what needs to be highlighted without being all "HEY! LISTEN!" about it.

That's on me though, not on Neversink. I'm not a speedrunner by any stretch, and I understand the reasoning behind the orchestra and the acid trip even if I personally really hate both. Would not say I hate the filter since I've never used it, but I'm also not going to use it until there's a Lite/non-Mad Hatter version of it.
She/Her
I use ZiggyD filter also, never even heard of neversink before reading this post
I use (a slightly modified) version of Neversink's filter, because I like having all the different colors and sounds so I know what dropped, rather than something like Ziggy's filter, which has very few distinguishing colors and what not to tell me what has dropped. Gotta go fast. Gotta know what dropped. I think Neversink's filter is a good one for players who want to know what items are worth considering picking up AND why they are (since for instance, the different colors and sounds indicate all sorts of different things, and allow you to see that both this item and that item are worth considering, but given their different colors, it is for different reasons)
